Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Development of High Energy Cereal and Nut Granola Bar

open access: yes, 2017
Abstract: Granola is the nutritious product prepared with a different level of cereals, chickpeas, nuts, and raisins because they are the valuable source of protein and can be used as a complementary protein source of each other. The products were analyzed for nutritional quality, texture, and sensory attributes.

MARKET CONDUCT IN THE U.S. READY-TO-EAT CEREAL INDUSTRY [PDF]

open access: yes
The FTC's "shared monopoly" case was the focus of U.S. antitrust activity during the late 1970s, but prosecution of the cereal industry was terminated in 1981.

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.

Nutritional Value and Consumer Acceptance of New Cereal Bars Offered to Children

open access: yesPolish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences, 2016
The main aim of this study was to determine consumer preferences by school-aged children and selected quality indicators of new, highly nutritive grain bars designed as a snack during school break. Consumer acceptance was evaluated by the scaling method using a five-point mimic hedonic scale.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Effects of a mid-morning cereal bar on hazard perception in driving

open access: yes, 2011
Very little research has been conducted on the effects of snacking on driving performance. The first aim of the present study was to examine the effects of a mid-morning cereal bar on hazard perception while driving.

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.
