Paramagnetic Rim Lesions Are Associated With Trans‐Synaptic Degeneration of the Visual Pathway in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Retrograde trans‐synaptic degeneration (rTSD) from posterior visual pathway lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by hemi‐macular ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thinning and contralateral visual field loss.

Construction of Gene Modules and Analysis of Prognostic Biomarkers for Cervical Cancer by Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
BackgroundDespite advances in the understanding of neoplasm, patients with cervical cancer still have a poor prognosis. Identifying prognostic markers of cervical cancer may enable early detection of recurrence and more effective treatment.MethodsGene ...

Association Between Motor Pathway Damage and Motor Deficit in Upper and Lower Limb in People With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Corticospinal tract damage is common in people with MS, but the degree of clinical symptoms varies. We hypothesize that corticospinal tract lesions are more extensive and severe in people with MS with motor impairments in both upper and lower limbs.

Alteration in cervical spine mechanics in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome patients

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis, 2015
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a multi-factorial disease with many identified risk factors and mechanisms. Little research exists on cervical spine mechanics as a risk factor for OSAS.

Cognitive and Neuroimaging Divergence Between Juvenile and Adult FUS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Fused in sarcoma (FUS)‐associated juvenile ALS (jALS) represents a distinct and aggressive subgroup with rapid deterioration and poor prognosis.

The relationship between vertical malocclusions and ossification changes in the cranial base and upper cervical spine

open access: yesScientific Reports
The growth and development of the maxillofacial complex share a common embryological origin with the cranial base and upper cervical spine; therefore, anomalies in these regions may be linked to variations in the skeletal pattern.

Tumor‐Intrinsic ARHGEF3 Enhances Antitumor Immunity by Promoting T‐Cell Infiltration and Limiting Myeloid Cell‐Mediated Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARHGEF3 is broadly downregulated across human cancers and correlates with patient prognosis. Tumor‐intrinsic ARHGEF3 activates the RHOA–ROCK–PTEN cascade to inhibit AKT signaling, thereby promoting chemokine‐driven T‐cell infiltration and relieving lipid‐mediated myeloid immunosuppression.

Transoral unilateral lag screw osteosynthesis for coronal split fracture of the lateral mass of the atlas – case report, operative technique and review of the literature

open access: yesBrain and Spine, 2023
Introduction: Atlas ring fractures, which account for 1.3% of all spinal fractures, are predominantly managed conservatively. However, in certain cases, surgical treatment may be necessary depending on the type of fracture, degree of comminution ...
