Intermittent Fasting Enhances Genome Integrity and Cytoprotective Pathways via (BHB) β‐Hydroxybutyrate Signaling and Chromatin Remodeling

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Repeated intermittent fasting elevates hippocampal β‐hydroxybutyrate (BHB), remodels HDAC activity and histone acetylation, and drives a metabolic–epigenetic transition from transient chromatin priming after a single fast to a sustained cytoprotective program associated with reduced DNA damage and enhanced genome maintenance.

UGA4 and YBR062C Regulate Oxidative Stress Tolerance Under Heavy Metal Toxicity

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Under heavy metal stress, global cap‐dependent translation is compromised. However, expression of URE2, a key gene involved in cellular tolerance to heavy metal toxicity, is maintained through an internal ribosome entry site (IRES)–mediated mode of translation.

Methylglyoxal Affects Dopamine Homeostasis in SH‐SY5Y Cells Through the Modulation of miR‐190a and miR‐214

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 5, 15 March 2026.
In SH‐SY5Y cells, Methylglyoxal (MGO) reduces the intracellular dopamine content, up‐regulating the expression of proteins that modulate dopamine amount (MAO‐B, COMT, and α‐Syn). The MGO‐induced increase of COMT and α‐Syn expression is mediated by the reduction of miR‐214 and miR‐190a levels.

Giving It a Twist: One‐Step Fabrication of Aligned Biomimetic Yarn Scaffolds via Rotational Melt Electrofibrillation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 9, 6 March 2026.
Due to its multifunctionality, replicating the fibrillar and supramolecular architecture of Collagen I is gaining increasing priority in regenerative medicine. Using rotational Melt Electrofibrillation, we present a powerful method to accurately mimic the ultrastructure of Collagen with polycaprolactone, enabling the one‐step fabrication of three ...
