ABSTRACT Barley accumulates proanthocyanidins (PA), a type of flavonoid compound, in the testa layer. The accumulated PA have a detrimental effect on the quality of beer and pearled barley. Therefore, controlling PA accumulation in the testa layer is an important breeding objective in barley. PA accumulation is regulated by a ternary complex consisting

ABSTRACT Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a serious progressive complication of the respiratory system, which is profoundly associated with persistent extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition, fibrosis, and disrupted tissue regeneration. Emerging evidence shows that epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) acts as a key factor in the pathogenesis of ...

ABSTRACT Nucleophilic cyclization of the α, β‐unsaturated carbonyl framework of the prepared (E)‐4‐(3‐bromo‐4‐hydroxy‐5‐methoxyphenyl)but‐3‐en‐2‐one with various hydrazine derivatives to afford their corresponding pyrazolines has been achieved. The enzyme assays conducted showed significant α‐amylase inhibitory activity for 4b with IC50 value of 2.7 µM.

Molecular polymorphisms that underlie trait variation in crops: Lessons learned from soybean
Abstract Genetic variation within a germplasm is important in crop improvement, providing a foundation for breeders to develop new varieties. Traits of agronomic and economic importance are often mapped to identify the genetic basis of observed phenotypes, oftentimes using quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis.

Harnessing genomic resources for passion fruit improvement: Progress and prospects
Abstract Passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) is a highly nutritious horticultural crop cultivated widely across tropical and subtropical regions. Despite decades of breeding efforts that have led to the release of a few high‐yielding cultivars, on‐farm productivity remains suboptimal, and several existing cultivars are showing signs of declining vigor ...

A hierarchical assembly system was established in which the coding sequences for four docking enzymes and a scaffold are co‐assembled onto a single plasmid, thereby establishing a ‘scaffoldomics’ platform for the optimisation of multi‐enzyme biosynthetic pathways.

Design, Synthesis, and Evaluation of Bis‐Chalcones and Bis‐Flavones as Selective COX‐2 Inhibitors
Novel bis‐chalcones were successfully synthesized and demonstrated COX‐2 selective inhibition and the ability to inhibit PGE2 production in whole human blood. Notably, a monomeric chalcone with a similar substitution pattern exhibited even greater activity, providing valuable insights to guide the future design and optimization of flavonoid‐based COX‐2
