Cytotoxicity of chalcone derivatives towards glioblastoma.

Anticancer research, 2011
Among seventeen compounds derived from chalcones investigated as potential anticancer drugs towards LN229 glioblastoma cell line, only two were effective.Anticancer activity was investigated by evaluating the cell growth, cell cycle, mitotic index and the cell death. Two compounds, namely C2 and C12, inhibited cell proliferation associated with a ...

Methoxy Chalcone Derivatives: Promising Antimicrobial Agents Against Phytopathogens

Chemistry & Biodiversity
AbstractChalcone (E)‐1,3‐diphenyl‐prop‐2‐en‐1‐one and a series of 14 methoxylated derivatives have been synthesized via Claisen–Schmidt aldol condensation and characterized by FTIR, CG/MS/DIC, 1D (1H and 13C), 2D (COSY, HSQC, and HMBC) NMR, and EMAR techniques. All molecules were tested at 1 mM concentration for antifungal (Sclerotium sp., Macrophomina

Allosteric inhibition of PTP1B by bromocatechol-chalcone derivatives

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry
Development of allosteric inhibitors may be a viable strategy to discover hypoglycemic drugs targeting PTP1B. Allosteric inhibitors occupying the BB site that is a hydrophobic pocket restrict the WPD loop in an open conformation, preventing the physiological dephosphorylation reaction.

Chalcone Derivatives As Potential Biological Activities

Chalcones are the biogenetic precursors of flavonoids and Isoflavonoids, which are abundant in plants. Chalcones are active lead molecules in medicinal chemistry for the discovery of new drugs. Here, we review properties, biosynthesis and structural diversity of natural chalcones.
