Chalcones as versatile synthons for the synthesis of 5- and 6-membered nitrogen heterocylces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Chalcones belong to the flavonoid family which constitutes one of the major classes of naturally occurring oxygen heterocyclic compounds. The alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl system of chalcones possesses two electrophilic reactive centers allowing them ...

Atomic Scale Engineering of Multivalence‐State Palladium Photocatalyst for Transfer Hydrogenation with Water as a Proton Source

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic transfer hydrogenation is achieved over a multivalence‐state palladium photocatalyst, in which protons generated from photocatalytic water splitting are added to unsaturated double bonds. The operando light‐induced Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy confirms the synergistic action between Pd single atoms and nanoparticles,

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Heterocyclic Chalcones from 1-Phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-ol

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
An efficient synthetic route to construct diverse pyrazole-based chalcones from 1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-ols bearing a formyl or acetyl group on the C4 position of pyrazole ring, employing a base-catalysed Claisen–Schmidt condensation reaction, is described.

Heterogeneous Copper‐Catalyzed 1,4‐Conjugate Additions of Grignard Reagents to Cyclic and Linear Enones

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The 1,4‐conjugate addition of Grignard reagents to various cyclic and linear enones using a heterogeneous catalyst is reported. Recyclable copper nanoparticles immobilized on polysaccharide support (e.g., cellulose, chitosan) enable high chemo‐ and regioselectivity.

Simple chalcones and bis-chalcones ethers as possible pleiotropic agents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
The synthesis, the antioxidative properties and the lipoxygenase (LOX) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition of a number of 4-hydroxy-chalcones diversely substituted as well as of a series of bis-chalcones ether derivatives are reported. The chalcones derivatives were readily produced using a Claisen-Schmidt condensation in a ultra sound bath in ...
