An asymptotic result for linear nonhomogeneous mixed type differential equation [PDF]

open access: yesE-Journal of Analysis and Applied Mathematics
We consider a nonhomogeneous linear mixed type differential equation with variable coefficients and establish an asymptotic result for its solutions. Our result is obtained by the use of a solution of the so-called generalized characteristic equation of ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Stability implications of delay distribution for first-order and second-order systems

open access: yes, 2009
In application areas, such as biology, physics and engineering, delays arise naturally because of the time it takes for the system to react to internal or external events.

Homogenization of two fluid flow in porous media

open access: yes, 2015
The macroscopic behavior of air and water in porous media is often approximated using Richards’ equation for the fluid saturation and pressure. This equation is parametrized by the hydraulic conductivity and water release curve.

Visual construction of characteristic equations of linear electric circuits

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2013
A visual identification method with application of partial circuits is developed for characteristic equation coefficients of transients in linear electric circuits.

Analytic solutions of transcendental equations with application to automatics

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2016
In the paper the extremal dynamic error x(τ) and the moment of time τ are considered. The extremal value of dynamic error gives information about accuracy of the system. The time τ gives information about velocity of transient.

On a correlation between differential equations and their characteristic equations

open access: yesApplicable Analysis and Discrete Mathematics, 2007
Many theoretical and practical problems from theory and practice acquire resolving trough plenty of concrete process characteristics. Problems of this type are eigenvalues problems, boundary value problems, optimal values at variation calculation, of polynomials existence as special functions with determined characteristic.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Approximate Roots of Flu¨gge’s Characteristic Equation for the Closed Cylindrical Shell

open access: yes, 1969
Two approximate solutions are given for Flu¨gge’s closed cylindrical shell characteristic equation, valid for the lower and higher harmonics, respectively.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
