Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Chemical Enrichment and Central Star Properties [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1993
We have selected a sample of planetary nebulae, for which the core masses are determined using distance-independent parameters (Zhang and Kwok 1992). The chemical abundances of He, N, O, and C are taken from the literature for them. Relationships of the ratios of He/H, N/O, and C/O with various stellar parameters of planetary nebulae (PN), such as the ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

A chemical confirmation of the faint Bootes II dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy

open access: yes, 2014
We present a chemical abundance study of the brightest confirmed member star of the ultrafaint dwarf galaxy Bootes II from Keck/HIRES high-resolution spectroscopy at moderate signal-to-noise ratios. At [Fe/H] = -2.93 +/- 0.03 (stat.) +/- 0.17 (sys.) this

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Leaching behavior of germanium from germanium-rich lignite: A further comprehension of its occurrence state

open access: yesFuel Processing Technology
Germanium, a critical metal used in many strategy fields, is widely acknowledged as organic affinity. Germanium is main occurred in the humus of lignite, but its exact occurrence state remains unclear. In this work, various methods were employed to leach

The Initial Mass Function in disc galaxies and in galaxy clusters: the chemo-photometric picture

open access: yes, 2005
The observed brightness of the Tully-Fisher relation suggests a low stellar M/L ratio and a "bottom-light" IMF in disc galaxies, but the corresponding efficiency of chemical enrichment tends to exceed the observational estimates.

An abundance study of red-giant-branch stars in the Hercules dwarf spheroidal galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Using high-resolution spectroscopy, we provide a determination of [Fe/H] and [Ca/H] for confirmed red-giant branch member stars of the Hercules dwarf spheroidal galaxy.
