The vertical distribution of iron stable isotopes in the North Atlantic near Bermuda [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Seawater dissolved iron isotope ratios (δ^(56)Fe) have been measured in the North Atlantic near Bermuda. In a full-depth profile, seawater dissolved δ^(56)Fe is isotopically heavy compared to crustal values throughout the water column (δ^(56)Fe_(IRMM-014)

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Soil Phosphorus Fraction Characteristics in Different Alpine Grassland Types of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

open access: yesAgronomy
The alpine grassland ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau is a vital base for animal husbandry and a key ecological security barrier in China. Phosphorus (P), an essential nutrient, is among the primary factors limiting grassland productivity.

CHANGES IN STRUCTURE AND CONTENT HUMIC SUBSTANCES

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Safety Engineering Series, 2016
The paper deals with the process of thermal degradation of humic substances in soil samples exposed to increased temperature. To determine the basic properties of humic substances, humic and fulvic acids are used conventional fractionation chemical ...

Nitrogen isotopic ratios in Barnard 1: a consistent study of the N2H+, NH3, CN, HCN and HNC isotopologues

open access: yes, 2013
The 15N isotopologue abundance ratio measured today in different bodies of the solar system is thought to be connected to 15N-fractionation effects that would have occured in the protosolar nebula.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Wastewater COD characterization: biodegradability of physico-chemical fractions

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2002
Physico-chemical and biological characterization methods were applied to wastewater samples originating from 7 French WWTPs. The settleable fraction (S), unsettleable-coagulable fraction (US-C) and unsettleable-uncoagulable fraction (US-UC) were separated.

Effect of pre-treatment and drying method on physico-chemical properties and dry fractionation behaviour of mealworm larvae (Tenebrio molitor L.)

open access: yesEuropean Food Research and Technology, 2018
Edible insects have emerged as an alternative source for feed and food. Fractionation is considered as a promising strategy to produce standardised insect-based intermediates to augment industrial applicability and consumer acceptance. So far, mainly wet

Condensation of solids in space. Isotope fractionation in the model system C-O [PDF]

open access: yes
The reported chemical fractionation of a single isotope O-16 under simulated space conditions provides the first experimental proof for the hypothesis that the oxygen isotopic anomaly (and other similar anomalies) seen in meteorites is a product of ...

Molecular ions in L1544. II. The ionization degree [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The maps presented in Paper I are here used to infer the variation of the column densities of HCO+, DCO+, N2H+, and N2D+ as a function of distance from the dust peak. These results are interpreted with the aid of a crude chemical model which predicts the
