IFCC educational materials on selected analytical and clinical applications of high sensitivity cardiac troponin assays.

open access: yes, 2015
In 2011, the IFCC Task Force on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers (TF-CB) was formed, with the purpose of providing evidence based educational materials to assist all biomarker users, i.e.

Comparison of two different technologies measuring the same analytes in view of the In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR)

open access: yesJournal of Laboratory Medicine
This study systematically compared the performance and comparability of two medical laboratory analytical instruments, the conventional wet chemistry analyzer (cobas) and the dry slide technology (Vitros), across various clinical chemistry assays.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Protocol for assessing total antioxidant capacity in minimal volumes of varying clinical human samples

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Total antioxidant capacity (TAC), representative of the capacity to combat oxidative stress, is closely linked to numerous diseases. Here, we present a protocol for measuring TAC using minimal samples that are stable across varying pH levels and

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.
