A Microfluidic Platform for Evaluating Neutrophil Chemotaxis Induced by Sputum from COPD Patients.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a common lung disease characterized by breathing difficulty as a consequence of narrowed airways. Previous studies have shown that COPD is correlated with neutrophil infiltration into the airways through ...

Manipulation of Oxygen Tension in Damaged Regions via Hypoxia‐Induced IPN Hydrogel Microspheres for Intervertebral Disc Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel interpenetrating network hydrogel microsphere (NSC‐Exos@HIMS) is developed to manipulate oxygen tension in damaged regions and recruit endogenous stem cells. In vitro and in vivo results show that NSC‐Exos@HIMS maintains the hypoxia microenvironment for up to 5 days, which triggers nucleus pulposus cell‐like differentiation and enhanced ECM ...

Global radial solutions in classical Keller-Segel model of chemotaxis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We consider the simplest parabolic-elliptic model of chemotaxis in the whole space in several dimensions. Criteria for the existence of radial global-in-time solutions in terms of suitable Morrey norms are derived.

Engineered Tissue Models to Decode Host–Microbiota Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host–Microbiota interactions in the human body. Created in BioRender. Ghezzi, C. (2025) https://BioRender.com/ihivskg. Abstract A mutualistic co‐evolution exists between the host and its associated microbiota in the human body. Bacteria establish ecological niches in various tissues of the body, locally influencing their physiology and functions, but ...

Communications Among Neurocytes in Parkinson's Disease Regulated by Differential Metabolism and Blood‐Brain Barrier Traversing of Chiral Gold Cluster‐MOF Integrated Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study have loaded chiral gold nanoclusters onto the inner and outer surfaces of ZIF and uncovers the biodistribution, metabolic variances, and therapeutic mechanism of chiral nanoparticles, providing deep insights into the nanobiological effects of chiral anti‐inflammatory nanomedicines in PD therapy for future clinical transformation.

Locoregional Immune Checkpoint Blockade and Remodeling of Lymph Nodes by Engineered Dendritic Cell‐Derived Exosomes for Suppressing Tumor Progression and Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study develops engineered exosomes (EmDEX@GA) for locoregional immunomodulation of tumor‐draining lymph node (TDLN). EmDEX@GA can actively target to TDLN and remodel its immunosuppressive microenvironment through the synergistic effects of PD‐1/PD‐L1 blockade and STING pathway activation, subsequently enhance anti‐tumor immunity and suppress tumor ...

Dietary E. coli promotes age-dependent chemotaxis decline in C. elegans

open access: yesScientific Reports
An animal’s ability to sense odors declines during aging, and its olfactory drive is tuned by internal states such as satiety. However, whether internal states modulate an age-dependent decline in odor sensation is unknown.

Identification of CD38high Monocyte as a Candidate Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target for Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.

tlpA gene expression is required for arginine and bicarbonate chemotaxis in Helicobacter pylori

open access: yesBiological Research, 2011
About half of the human population is infected with Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium causing gastritis, peptic ulcer and progression to gastric cancer. Chemotaxis and flagellar motility are required for colonization and persistence of H.

Numerical study of plume patterns in the chemotaxis-diffusion-convection coupling system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
A chemotaxis-diffusion-convection coupling system for describing a form of buoyant convection in which the fluid develops convection cells and plume patterns will be investigated numerically in this study. Based on the two-dimensional convective chemotaxis-fluid model proposed in the literature, we developed an upwind finite element method to ...
