Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Neutrophil dysfunction is closely related to the pathophysiology of patients with diabetes mellitus, but existing immunoassays are difficult to implement in clinical applications, and neutrophil’s chemotaxis as a functional biomarker for diabetes ...

We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Bacterial chemotaxis to organic pollutants and its influence on biodegradation
The bioremediation of organic pollutants is regarded as a safe, economical and efficient strategy. Nevertheless, biodegradation efficiency is not only associated with the degrading capability of bacteria, but also depends on the bioavailability of ...

A novel computer vision‐based assessment of neutrophil chemotaxis in patients with severe infection
Objectives To evaluate the value of chemotactic function of neutrophils in patients with severe infections. Methods A computer vision‐based cellular chemotaxis analysis platform was established for the dynamic assessment of neutrophil chemotaxis.

Background: The chemokine receptor, CC-chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3), and its major ligands, eotaxin, RANTES, and MCP-4, are involved in eosinophil chemotaxis. It is thought that CCR3 plays an important role in the recruitment and activation of eosinophils

Differentiation-inducing factor-1 and -2 function also as modulators for Dictyostelium chemotaxis. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:In the early stages of development of the cellular slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum, chemotaxis toward cAMP plays a pivotal role in organizing discrete cells into a multicellular structure.
