Conversational User Interfaces As Assistive interlocutors For Young Children's Bilingual Language Acquisition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Children in a large number of international and cross-cultural families in and outside of the US learn and speak more than one language. However, parents often struggle to acquaint their young children with their local language if the child spends majority of time at home and with their spoken language if they go to daycare or school.

Er fagbøger en del af børnelitteraturen?

open access: yesBarnboken: Tidskrift för Barnlitteraturforskning, 2011
Is non-fiction also a part of children’ literature? In recent decades, children’s literature researchers have only considered fiction children’s literature (Maria Nikolajeva 1998 and Torben Weinreich 2004), and certain younger researchers has shown a ...

Literature for Children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The child is often imagined in the work of Coleridge and Wordsworth as a source of creative energies and of hope for the future of humanity, as well as symbolizing a return to original naturalness. But these ideas about childhood were not peculiar to the Lake poets: they have their origin in the politicized educational theories of John Locke and Jean ...

In Need of Creative Mobile Service Ideas? Forget Adults and Ask Young Children [PDF]

open access: yesSAGE Open Vol 5, Issue 3, 2015, 2015
It is well acknowledged that innovation is a key success factor in mobile service domain. Having creative ideas is the first critical step in the innovation process. Many studies suggest that customers are a valuable source of creative ideas. However, the literature also shows that adults may be constrained by existing technology frames, which are ...

Adapt a Generic Human-Centered AI Design Framework in Children's Context [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Through systematically analyzing the literature on designing AI-based technologies, we extracted design implications and synthesized them into a generic human-centered design framework for AI technologies to better support human needs and mitigate their concerns.

A Scoping Review of Internal Migration and Left-behind Children's Wellbeing in China [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Children's well-being of immigrants is facing several challenges related to physical, mental, and educational risks, which may obstacle human capital accumulation and further development. In rural China, due to the restriction of Hukou registration system, nearly 9 million left-behind children (LBC) are in lack of parental care and supervision in 2020 ...

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

Children’s Literature and the Holocaust [PDF]

open access: yesGenealogy, 2020
The aim of my paper is to examine children’s literature written in Italy and centred on the Holocaust. It is quite common for people to deem the subject matter inappropriate for young audiences, whilst it is also considered disrespectful to write inventive literature for children about the death camps.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical
