Chilling Requirements and Blooming Dates of Leading Peach Cultivars and a Promising Early Maturing Peach Selection, Momo Tsukuba 127

open access: yes, 2017
A major goal of peach breeding programs in Japan is to develop cultivars with lower chilling requirements than the leading cultivars. Low-chill cultivars can be grown in subtropical as well as temperate regions. We investigated the chilling requirements (

Chilling requirements of cherries grown under subtropical conditions of Adana

open access: yes, 2012
The chilling requirements of different cherry cultivars and the chilling durations of two different cherry growing areas (Pozanti at 1100 m and Adana at 50 m elevations) were investigated.

Thermal requirements and impacts of chilling accumulation on the phenology of olive (Olea europaea L.) cultivars in Southern Brazil

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias
Chilling and thermal heat requirements play fundamental roles in the phenological cycle of olive trees (Olea europaea L.) by impacting the initiation of budburst, flowering, and productivity.

The Interactive Effects of Chilling, Photoperiod, and Forcing Temperature on Flowering Phenology of Temperate Woody Plants

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
The effects of winter chilling, spring forcing temperature, and photoperiod on spring phenology are well known for many European and North American species, but the environmental cues that regulate the spring phenology of East Asian species have not yet ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Chilling and Forcing for the Main Fresh Fruit Regions in Portugal

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Air temperature plays a major role in the growth cycle of fruit trees. Chilling and forcing are two of the main mechanisms that drive temperate fruit development, namely dormancy and active plant development.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Determination of Chilling and Heat Requirement of Four Apricot Cultivars of Khorasan Razavi Province

open access: yesMajallah-i ̒Ulum-i Bāghbānī, 2017
Introduction:Dormancy is one of the most important stages in the life cycle of temperate plants and plants are required to exit from it with supply of chill unit. Flowering is defined with chilling and heat requirement. Owing to low chilling requirement,

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Monitoring Dormancy Transition in Almond [Prunus Dulcis (Miller) Webb] during Cold and Warm Mediterranean Seasons through the Analysis of a DAM (Dormancy-Associated MADS-Box) Gene

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2018
For fruit tree (Prunus) species, flower bud dormancy completion determines the quality of bud break and the flowering time. In the present climate change and global warming context, the relationship between dormancy and flowering processes is a ...
