Tomato plants increase their tolerance to low temperature in a chilling acclimation process entailing comprehensive transcriptional and metabolic adjustments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
43 p.-9 fig.Low temperature is a major environmental stress that seriously compromises plant development, distribution and productivity. Most crops are from tropical origin and, consequently, chilling sensitive.

Seedling Growth and Chilling Stress Effects on Photosynthesis in Chilling-Sensitive and Chilling-Tolerant Cultivars of Zea mays

open access: yesJournal of Plant Physiology, 1991
Summary Distinct differences were observed between chilling-sensitive (CS) and chilling-tolerant (CT) maize cultivars with respect to early seedling growth strategies and response to chilling at 5 °C. The CT cultivar exhibited more rapid emergence and growth rates and an earlier depletion of seed reserves.

A Qualitative Analysis of Patient Perspectives and Preferences in Lupus Management to Guide Lupus Guidelines Development

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A patient‐centered approach for chronic disease management, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), aligns treatment with patients’ values and preferences, leading to improved outcomes. This paper summarizes how patient experiences, perspectives, and priorities informed the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2024 Lupus Nephritis (LN)

Alterations in the porphyrin biosynthesis and antioxidant responses to chilling and heat stresses in Oryza sativa

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2015
Roles of an altered porphyrin biosynthesis and antioxidants in protection against chilling and heat stresses were evaluated in rice (Oryza sativa L.).

Chilling stress and chilling tolerance of sweet potato as sensed by chlorophyll fluorescence

open access: yesPhotosynthetica, 2007
We studied changes in the chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence components in chilling-stressed sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L. Lam) cv. Tainung 57 (TN57, chilling-tolerant) and cv. Tainung 66 (TN66, chilling-susceptible). Plants under 12-h photoperiod and 400 µmol m−2 s−1 irradiance at 24/20 °C (day/night) were treated by a 5-d chilling period at 7/7 °C ...

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth With Childhood‐Onset Lupus: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Our objective was to determine the feasibility and acceptability of the Treatment and Education Approach for Childhood‐Onset Lupus (TEACH), a six‐session cognitive behavioral intervention addressing depressive, fatigue, and pain symptoms, delivered remotely to individual youth with lupus by a trained interventionist.

Polyamine, peroxidase activity and total protein content during storage of bird-of-paradise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The present study was aimed to the determination of the effect of storage on some biochemical characteristics (PAs content, POX activity and total protein content) of flower tissue of bird-of-paradise.

The heterotrimeric G-protein complex modulates light sensitivity in arabidopsis thaliana seed germination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Release of dormancy and induction of seed germination are complex traits finely regulated by hormonal signals and environmental cues such as temperature and light.

Oxidative Stress and Chilling Tolerance in Tomato Seedlings [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Diurnal variation in the chilling sensitivity of tomato seedlings was examined. Sensitivity to chilling in tomato seedlings is a response to light and not under the control of a circadian rhythm. Chilling sensitivity is highest in seedlings chilled at the end of the dark period, and these seedlings become more resistant to chilling injury upon exposure

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
