Exploring glutamate-gated chloride channels in cancer cells: A narrative review on a hypothetical mechanism underpinning the anticancer effects of antiparasitic drugs

open access: yesСибирский научный медицинский журнал
Chloride channels play a fundamental role in cellular homeostasis, influencing ion balance, pH regulation, and apoptotic signaling. While glutamate-gated chloride channels (GluCl) are traditionally restricted to invertebrates, recent evidence suggests ...

Chlorotoxin: A Helpful Natural Scorpion Peptide to Diagnose Glioma and Fight Tumor Invasion

open access: yesToxins, 2015
Chlorotoxin is a small 36 amino-acid peptide identified from the venom of the scorpion Leiurus quinquestriatus. Initially, chlorotoxin was used as a pharmacological tool to characterize chloride channels. While studying glioma-specific chloride currents,

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

CLCA2 is a positive regulator of store-operated calcium entry and TMEM16A. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The Chloride Channel Accessory (CLCA) protein family was first characterized as regulators of calcium-activated chloride channel (CaCC) currents (ICaCC), but the mechanism has not been fully established. We hypothesized that CLCAs might regulate ICaCC by

TRPV3-ANO1 interaction positively regulates wound healing in keratinocytes

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
The chloride channel anoctamin1, upon activation by calcium influx through transient receptor potential vanilloid 3, mediates chloride influx and enhances wound healing in keratinocytes.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Telocytes express ANO‐1‐encoded chloride channels in canine ventricular myocardium

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2019
Introduction It is unknown if ANO‐1 is expressed in the heart, though the presence of a calcium‐activated chloride current has been proposed to mediate some cardiac dysrhythmias.
