The relationship of physico-chemical properties and structure to the differential antiplasmodial activity of the cinchona alkaloids. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
BACKGROUND: The 8-amino and 9-hydroxy substituents of antimalarial cinchona alkaloids have the erythro orientation while their inactive 9-epimers are threo.

Ultrasound‐Activatable Piezoelectric Hydrogel Reprograms Mitochondrial Epigenetics for Osteoarthritis Therapy via the mTOR/GATD3A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ultrasound‐activatable piezoelectric hydrogel reprograms chondrocyte mitochondrial epigenetics via the mTOR/GATD3A axis, clearing damaged mitochondria and alleviating osteoarthritis progression in both mouse models and human cartilage explants. ABSTRACT The avascular nature of cartilage hinders drug delivery for osteoarthritis (OA) therapy.

Ajuvant effect of a Synthetic Aluminium - Magnesium Silicate on chloroquine phosphate, against Plasmodium berghei. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
effect of a synthetic Aluminium - Magnesium Silicate (AMS) on antiplasmodial activity of chloroquine was tested. Plasmodium berghei-infected mice were treated with 7 mg/kg, 5 mg/kg and 3 mg/kg chloroquine, respectively.

A novel antimalarial lead compound: in vitro properties and mode of action studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Malaria remains a major public health problem and the increasing number of resistant strains underscores the need for new drugs with new modes of action (MOAs).

8‐Oxoguanine Modified CircMTUS1 Drives PABPC1 Phase Separation to Promote Gastric Cancer Progression and Cisplatin Resistance via Autophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastric cancer (GC) is a major global health concern, as its prevention and treatment remain significant challenges. The 8‐oxoguanine (o8G) modification of circRNAs, alongside their capacity to orchestrate liquid‐liquid phase separation (LLPS) and autophagy, plays a pivotal role in driving tumor progression and determining therapeutic outcomes.

Chloroquine/sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine for gambian children with malaria: transmission to mosquitoes of multidrug-resistant Plasmodium falciparum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
OBJECTIVES: In the Gambia, chloroquine (CQ) plus sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP) is the first-line antimalarial treatment. Plasmodium falciparum parasites carrying mutations associated with resistance to each of these drugs were present in 2001 but did ...

O‐GlcNAcylation Regulation of SNAP29‐Dependent Autophagy Activation Dictates Chemoresistance in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Model illustrating the proposed mechanism by which chemotherapy‐induced downregulation of OGT disrupts SNAP29 O‐GlcNAcylation, promoting STX17‐SNAP29‐VAMP8 SNARE complex assembly and protective autophagy, leading to chemoresistance, which in turn establishes a feedforward loop to perpetuate drug tolerance.

1H-NMR metabolite profiles of different strains of Plasmodium falciparum

open access: yesBioscience Reports, 2014
Although efforts to understand the basis for inter-strain phenotypic variation in the most virulent malaria species, Plasmodium falciparum, have benefited from advances in genomic technologies, there have to date been few metabolomic studies of this ...
