Vegan diet and nutritional status in infants, children and adolescents: A position paper based on a systematic search by the ESPGHAN Nutrition Committee

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 81, Issue 5, Page 1318-1345, November 2025.
Abstract Vegan and other plant‐based diets are becoming increasingly popular in the paediatric age group. There is limited evidence in the current medical literature to determine whether a vegan diet is adequate for children, since the currently available society position papers are based on narrative reviews and expert opinion.

Mechanochemische Methoden mit Anwendung in der Late‐Stage Modifizierung Pharmazeutisch Wirksamer Verbindungen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 41, October 6, 2025.

Mechanochemical Strategies Applied to the Late‐Stage Modifications of Pharmaceutically Active Compounds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 41, October 6, 2025.
This review highlights mechanochemical strategies for the late‐stage modification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), providing a valuable resource for selecting substrates to evaluate the pharmaceutical potential of novel and existing (mechano)chemical protocols.

Autosomal Recessive Cerebellar Ataxias: Translating Genes to Therapies

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 98, Issue 3, Page 448-470, September 2025.
[Color figure can be viewed at www.annalsofneurology.org] Autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxias are disabling neurodegenerative genetic conditions affecting balance and coordination. Advancements in genomic testing have improved diagnosis, leading to a new focus on the development of targeted precision therapeutics addressing cellular, biochemical ...

Recent Advances in Detergent Chemistry and Handling Support Membrane Protein Analysis Including Lipid Interactions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 49, September 1, 2025.
Detergent design parameters determine experimental successes in membrane protein research. Recent progresses in detergent chemistry are reviewed to promote the top‐down design of non‐ionic detergents for the purification and analysis of intact membrane proteins, including lipid interactions.

Production of Early and Normal Harvest Olive Oils Under Industrial Conditions and Comprehensive Comparison of the Oils Produced

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 9, September 2025.
Olives were harvested at early and normal times from the same orchards and processed in the same industrial plant under the same conditions and compared comprehensively. Although early harvested olive oils were liked more by consumers, their yield was lower. Further, some compositional differences existed.

Treatment of Inborn Errors by Product Replacement: The Example of Inborn Errors of Bile Acid Synthesis

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Many inborn errors of metabolism affect pathways involved in the synthesis of a metabolite that has an important biochemical or physiological function, and adverse effects of the disorder can be attributed to the lack of this metabolite. Thus, there is the opportunity for treatment by ‘product replacement’. One of the disorders in the pathways

Fecal Biomarkers in Soils Record Landscape‐Scale Wild Herbivore Abundance

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract In Earth history, our understanding of how large‐bodied herbivores shape a variety of ecosystem processes is limited by the quality of paleoecological proxies for herbivore composition and abundance. Fecal stanols are lipids that can be produced by microbes within animal digestive systems and that could remedy this dearth of proxies.

Tracking Long‐Term Trends in Sockeye Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) Population Dynamics Using Sterol and Stanol Biomarkers in Lake Sediments

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract We analyzed biomarkers, including sterols, stanols, and δ15N, in sediment cores from lakes with well‐documented sockeye salmon return histories. Our goal was to improve estimates of past changes in salmon escapement, that is, the population that return to their freshwater nursery lakes, inferred using sediment biogeochemical markers ...
