The lipid-lowering effect of ezetimibe in pure vegetarians
Results of previous studies have shown that ezetimibe (10 mg/day) reduces LDL cholesterol in patients with mild hypercholesterolemia on a normal-cholesterol diet (dietary intake of 200–500 mg/day) by 16–22%.

Vesicular systems for delivering conventional small organic molecules and larger macromolecules to and through human skin [PDF]
The history of using vesicular systems for drug delivery to and through skin started nearly three decades ago with a study utilizing phospholipid liposomes to improve skin deposition and reduce systemic effects of triamcinolone acetonide.

Cholesterol Synthesis, Cholesterol Absorption, and Mortality in Hemodialysis Patients [PDF]
Summary Background and objectives Recent clinical trials on cholesterol-lowering in patients with CKD yielded conflicting results, which might have resulted from different treatment strategies. Serum cholesterol levels are determined by endogenous synthesis and intestinal absorption, which are differentially ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Evidence for multiple complementary pathways for efficient cholesterol absorption in mice
Apolipoprotein B (apoB)-dependent and apoB-independent pathways for cholesterol transport have been described in cultured cells. Here, we show that the apoB-independent pathway involves apoA-I-containing high density lipoproteins (HDLs).

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
