Trimethylamine N-Oxide as a Potential Biomarker for Cardiovascular Disease: Its Association with Dietary Sources of Trimethylamine N-Oxide and Microbiota

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine, 2023
Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), the oxidized form of trimethylamine (TMA), was previously thought to be a waste product but is now considered an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its comorbidities. Foods or supplements containing

Tannic Acid‐Modified Cellulose Nanofiber Reinforced Polymerizable Eutectogels for High‐Performance Stretchable Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymerizable deep eutectic solvent is reinforced with tannic acid‐modified cellulose nanofibers to construct a hierarchical dynamic eutectogel network. Synergistic covalent and reversible interactions impart ultrahigh stretchability, high ionic conductivity, broad temperature tolerance, self‐healing, and strong adhesion, enabling robust wearable ...

Enzyme‐Loaded Fe3+‐Modified Polydopamine Microparticles: Bioreactor Systems for Operating Biocatalytic Cascades, Enantioselective Transformations and Sensor Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enzyme‐loaded Fe3+‐modified polydopamine microparticles (Fe3+‐PD) act as hybrid biocatalytic frameworks demonstrating NADH peroxidase‐mimic catalytic activities, operation of biocatalytic cascades in confined media, and enantioselective oxidation of D/L‐DOPA. ABSTRACT We report on the synthesis of Fe3+‐modified porous polydopamine microparticles acting

Nano-Windmill Inhibits Macrophage Activation Via Choline Uptake Reduction

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: This study aims to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of a novel tetrahedral framework nucleic acid (tFNA)-based siRNA delivery system, named “nano-windmill,” which targets slc44a1 to inhibit macrophage activation by reducing ...

Effects of Rumen-Protected Choline on Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Blood Lipid Metabolites of Feedlot Lambs

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
Choline is an essential nutrient for animals, but dietary choline is degraded in the rumen, and thus, should be offered as rumen-protected choline (RPC) in ruminants.

Gardiquimod Nanoemulsion Targets Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Lesions Reducing Systemic Toxicity and Parasite Burden

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion delivery of a TLR7 agonist enhances safety and promotes colocalization with Leishmania‐infected macrophages in skin lesions, enabling a ∼2‐log reduction in parasite burden. However, tissue‐level constraints and TLR‐driven regulatory feedback generate a mixed immune response that limits complete parasite clearance.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

QUANTIFICATION OF TOTAL DIETARY CHOLINE CONTENT IN FOODS AFTER HYDROLYSIS WITH PHOSPHOLIPASE D IN COMPARISON WITH ACID HYDROLYSIS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food and Dairy Sciences, 2015
A previously we have developed a method for choline quantification that have been based on acid hydrolysis. In this study, a simple hydrolysis procedure for phospholipids in foods using only phospholipase D (PLD) was developed.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...
