Edible Pneumatic Battery for Sustained and Repeated Robot Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents an edible energy source and valve system to power soft, pneumatically driven edible robots. A chemical reaction between sodium bicarbonate and citric acid generates carbon dioxide gas, and a pressure‐triggered edible valve enables self‐repetitive motion of the edible actuator.

Automated Benchmarking of Variable‐Property Soft Robotic Fingertips to Enable Task‐Optimized Sensor Selection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sensorized fingertips are needed to unlock robotic dexterity, versatility, and diverse interactions. Here, 15 identically‐shaped robotic fingertips are benchmarked by a fully automated toolchange system, covering eight different materials and six broadly‐ranging sensing mechanisms.

Serum lipids in choline-deficient male and female rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Serum lipids from normal and choline-deficient male and female rats were fractionated on silicic acid. Total cholesterol, phosphorus, and fatty acid compositions were determined on serum cholesterol esters, triglycerides, phospholipids, and a small mixed

Folate and choline: does it take two to tango in early programming of disease?

open access: yesLifestyle Genomics, 2023
Background: The early life period marks a critical time during which the health trajectory of offspring can be shaped by external influences including maternal nutrition. Folate and choline are water-soluble micronutrients important for fetal development

Metabolomics application in maternal-fetal medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Metabolomics in maternal-fetal medicine is still an "embryonic" science. However, there is already an increasing interest in metabolome of normal and complicated pregnancies, and neonatal outcomes. Tissues used for metabolomics interrogations of pregnant

Epithelium‐Inspired, Ultrahigh‐Toughness, Ultralow‐Hysteresis, and Highly Compressible Polymer Hydrogels as Self‐Powered, Visual, and Underwater Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by epithelial tissue, epithelium‐like structure hydrogels are synthesized. The as‐prepared hydrogels exhibit ultrahigh toughness, ultralow hysteresis, and ultrahigh compressibility, which can be utilized as self‐powered and visual strain sensors.

Influence of estradiol on apparent phosphatidyl choline synthesis in rats*

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1961
Oophorectomized Sprague-Dawley rats, 28 to 30 days old, were maintained for 31 days on either a normal diet or a high fat, low protein, low choline diet, with or without vitamin B12.

Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of a health claim related to choline and "development of brain" pursuant to Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2014
Following an application from Specialised Nutrition Europe (formerly IDACE), submitted for authorisation of a health claim pursuant to Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 via the Competent Authority of France, the EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products ...

Unanticipated Interfacial Redox Reaction in the NiOx Transport Layer of Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the unanticipated interfacial redox reaction between NiOx and perovskite, which is characterized by XPS. This redox reaction is one of the primary reasons for the bias‐induced instability of PeLEDs and is particularly suppressed by simply applying an interface layer between NiOx and perovskite.

Tauroursodeoxycholic acid dampens oncogenic apoptosis induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress during hepatocarcinogen exposure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by the accumulation of unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), which activates the unfolded protein response (UPR).
