Free human chorionic gonadotropin beta subunit in gonadal and nongonadal neoplasms.

Cancer research, 1992
The diagnostic value of elevated human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and its free alpha (hCG alpha) and beta (hCG beta) subunit serum levels as specific tumor markers for nongonadal malignancies is controversial. In the present report, different monoclonal based immunoradiometric assays specific for hCG and its free hCG alpha and hCG beta subunits have ...

Human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-subunit) in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.

Obstetrics and gynecology, 1978
In 15 women with suspected ectopic pregnancy considerable amounts of beta-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) were detected in the serum by the radioimmunoassay technique. The diagnosis was proved by laparotomy. In another 25 suspected cases beta-hCG values were less than 1 mU/ml, and in those cases the diagnosis was excluded.

Ectopic production of beta-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin in malignant lymphoma.

Zentralblatt fur Pathologie, 1992
Ectopic production of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in tumor cells is an uncommon phenomenon that has rarely been documented. The immunoperoxidase method was used to demonstrate the presence of beta-subunit of HCG in malignant lymphoma cases, using paraffin-embedded sections of lymph nodes. 3 of 11 cases of malignant lymphoma (27%) were positively
