The crystal structure of the β subunit of luteinizing hormone and a model for the intact hormone

open access: yesCurrent Research in Structural Biology, 2019
The β subunit of bovine luteinizing hormone (LH) was crystallized and its structure solved to 3.15 Å resolution by molecular replacement using human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) β subunit as search model. The asymmetric unit contains two copies of the β

Postmenopausal pregnancy: A case report

open access: yesIranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research, 2020
Abnormal vaginal bleeding is one of the complaints of women during menopause. Various diseases such as endometrial atrophy, polyps, and endometrial cancers may lead to postmenopausal vaginal bleeding.

Human chorionic gonadotropin. VII. Preparation and immunocharacteristics of carboxyl-terminal peptides of the .BETA.-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1982
Various carboxyl-terminal peptides of hCG-β were prepared from the corresponding blocked peptides by TFA treatment followed by hydrogenation. The prepared peptides were tested for inhibitory action on the binding between 125I-hCG and the antiserum against the carboxyl-terminal portion of hCG-β.

Pulmonary Metastatic Choriocarcinoma in a Patient with Ectopic Pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Midwifery & Reproductive Health, 2017
Gestational trophoblastic tumor (GTT) most commonly follows a molar pregnancy. In fact, it can occur following gestational events such as induced or spontaneous abortion, ectopic pregnancy, and term pregnancy.

Beta-HCG secretion by a pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma: A case report

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2021
Ectopic secretion of beta-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (β-HCG) in pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma is remarkably rare. Such unusual ectopic hormone production by lung cancer may be initially misinterpreted as extragonadal choriocarcinoma or ...

Stimulation of hCG protein and mRNA in first trimester villous cytotrophoblast cells in vitro by glycodelin A [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Aim: Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is produced by fetal trophoblast cells and secreted into maternal circulation mainly in the first trimester of pregnancy.

A case of gynecomastia from a βhCG secreting bladder tumour

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology Case Reports, 2019
Background: Beta human chorionic gonadotropin (βhCG) is a glycoprotein secreted by trophoblastic cells during gestation. Various solid epithelial cancers can raise levels of βhCG and can cause gynecomastia. There are a few case reports that show elevated

Assignment of disulfide bonds in the beta subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1980
The assignment of five disulfide bonds in the alpha subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) using partial reduction and S-[14C]carboxymethylation has been reported earlier (Mise, T., and Bahl, O. P. (1980) J. Biol. Chem. 255, 8516-8522). Employing a similar approach, we have determined the locations of six disulfide bonds in hCG-beta.

Predictive value of extreme low PAPP-A, free βhCG and extreme high mean uterine artery pulsatility index in the first trimester for fetal growth restriction [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2020
Background/Aim. Adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preeclampsia (PE), placental abruption (PA), fetal intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and stillbirth could be recognized by prenatal screening.
