The effects of mifepristone on the structure of human decidua and chorion and Bax and Bcl-2 expression at early stage of pregnancy

open access: yesBMC Pharmacology and Toxicology, 2022
Background As a progesterone receptor antagonist, mifepristone combined with misoprostol is widely used to terminate early pregnancy in clinical practice.

Molecular and morphological peculiarities of chronic placental insufficiency formation caused by different types of diabetes mellitus

open access: yesСахарный диабет, 2020
Рathogenesis of the chronic placental insufficiency is largely determined by the type of diabetes mellitus and the degree of its compensation. Trophic function failure of placenta changes its hormonal activity, formation of respiratory disorders and ...

Histological characteristics of the uterine cavity scraping in women with hyperprolactinemia of various origins, complicated by terminating pregnancy

open access: yesPatologìâ, 2013
The main morphological feature in spontaneous abortions in hyperprolactinemia of various origin is reduced activity of invasive cytotrophoblast. At the same time a decrease in utero-placental barrier and increased hypoxia, resulting in dystrophic and ...

Ingrown chorionic villi of the first trimester as a result of a non-developing pregnancy in the post-cesarean scar, associated with the development of arteriovenous malformation: а clinical case

open access: yesAlʹmanah Kliničeskoj Mediciny, 2023
Background: Identification of residual chorionic tissue and ingrowing chorionic villi after uterine cavity curettage due to non-developing pregnancy, spontaneous abortions, and medical abortions has been a poorly studied problem.

Evidence for contamination as the origin for bacteria found in human placenta rather than a microbiota.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Until recently the in utero environment of pregnant women was considered sterile. Recent high-sensitivity molecular techniques and high-throughput sequencing lead to some evidence for a low-biomass microbiome associated with the healthy placenta.

Evidence for HPV DNA in the placenta of women who resorted to elective abortion

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2021
Background It is believed that HPV infection can result in the death of placental trophoblasts and cause miscarriages or preterm birth. In clinical cases of placental villi positive for HPV DNA reported by other authors, contamination is suspected in the

Human Placental NADPH Oxidase Mediates sFlt-1 and PlGF Secretion in Early Pregnancy: Exploration of the TGF-β1/p38 MAPK Pathways

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
Preeclampsia, a hypertensive disorder occurring during pregnancy, is characterized by excessive oxidative stress and trophoblast dysfunction with dysregulation of soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) and placental growth factor (PlGF) production ...

Triploidy--Observations in 154 Diandric Cases. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Hydatidiform moles (HMs) are abnormal human pregnancies with vesicular chorionic villi, imposing two clinical challenges; miscarriage and a risk of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Caspase‐3/GSDME‐Mediated Trophoblast Pyroptosis and Reciprocal Macrophage Polarization Contribute to Inflammation in Early‐Onset Preeclampsia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In trophoblast cells, T/S (TNFα + SM164) activated caspase‐3, which cleaved GSDME to switch apoptosis to pyroptosis, causing cell swelling, membrane rupture, and release of LDH, HMGB1, IL‐1β and IL‐18. These cytokines induced pro‐inflammatory macrophage polarization, which in turn reinforced pyroptotic signaling in trophoblasts, amplifying systemic ...
