A Theoretical Study of the Chorismate Synthase Reaction
Organic Letters, 2001Density functional calculations (B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p)) were carried out to investigate the mechanism of the anti-1,4-elimination of phosphate from 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate 1 that is catalyzed by chorismate synthase. Of particular interest was the functional role of the reduced flavin cofactor. [reaction: see text]

Nucleophile Selectivity of Chorismate‐Utilizing Enzymes
ChemBioChem, 2007aeruginosa) catalyzes the conversion of chorismate to isochorismate (2) by nucleophilic addition of water to the C2 of chorismate, with loss of the C4 hydroxyl. This is then converted to salicylate (3) by isochorismate pyruvate lyase (e.g. , PchB in P. aeruginosa).

A new test for chorismate mutase activity
Analytical Biochemistry, 1978Abstract Chorismate mutase (EC 5.4.99.5) catalyzes the conversion of chorismic acid to prephenic acid. A continuous test of the enzymatic activity is based on the decrease of the absorption of the substrate chorismate at 274 nm (1). In a sensitive but discontinuous test, prephenic acid, the product of the enzymatic reaction is converted to ...

Regulation of Chorismate-Derived Antibiotic Production
1979Publisher Summary Antibiotic production is a dispensable function of the producing cell, which is a characteristic of plasmic-borne traits, such as sex, metal resistance, pathogenicity, and drug resistance. The pattern of antibiotic production in any medium is strongly influenced by the growth rate of the producing organism.
