Biosynthesis of high-value chorismate derivatives in Escherichia coli: Recent advances and perspectives.

Biotechnology Advances
Chorismate serves not only as a critical branch point for aromatic amino acids biosynthesis, but also as an essential precursor for various high-value aromatic compounds.

Structural basis of chorismate isomerization by Arabidopsis ISOCHORISMATE SYNTHASE1.

Plant Physiology
Salicylic acid (SA) plays a crucial role in plant defense against biotrophic and semi-biotrophic pathogens. In Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), isochorismate synthase 1 (AtICS1) is a key enzyme for the pathogen-induced biosynthesis of SA via catalytic

Synthesis of 3-indolylmethyl substituted (pyrazolo/benzo)triazinone derivatives under Pd/Cu-catalysis: Identification of potent inhibitors of chorismate mutase (CM).

Bioorganic chemistry (Print), 2019
The chorismate mutase (CM) is considered as an attractive target for the identification of potential antitubercular agents due to its absence in animals but not in bacteria.

Inhibition of chorismate mutase activity of chorismate mutase-prephenate dehydrogenase from Aerobacter aerogenes

Biochemistry, 1982
Inhibition data (I50 values) have been obtained for inhibitors of the chorismate mutase activity of chorismate mutase-prephenate dehydrogenase from Aerobacter aerogenes. Several 1-substituted adamantane derivatives were investigated; the order of decreasing inhibitory activity with the various substituents was -PO32- much greater than -P(OCH3)O2 ...

Rearrangement of chorismate to prephenate. Use of chorismate mutase inhibitors to define the transition state structure

Biochemistry, 1977
The enzymically catalyzed conversion of chorismate to prephenate may proceed through either a chair-like or a boat-like transition state. To distinguish between these alternatives, we have prepared a series of structural analogues of the two possible transition state structures and tested them as inhibitors of chorismate mutase-prephenate dehydrogenase

Chorismate lyase: kinetics and engineering for stability

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 2002
By removing the enolpyruvyl group from chorismate, chorismate lyase (CL) produces p-hydroxybenzoate (p-HB) for the ubiquinone biosynthetic pathway. We have analyzed CL by several spectroscopic and chemical techniques and measured its kinetic (kcat=1.7 s(-1), K(m)=29 microM) and product inhibition parameters (K(p)=2.1 microM for p-HB).

Microbial production and NMR characterization of [2,6,9-13C]chorismate and [1,3,5,8-13C]chorismate

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1993
Abstract Chorismate is a biosynthetic precursor of the aromatic amino acids and many natural products. [2,6,9- 13 C]Chorismate and [1,3,5,8- 13 C]chorismate have been prepared microbially from [1- 13 C]glucose and [2- 13 C]glucose, respectively, using the culture filtrates of Klebsiella pneumonia strain 62-1. This is an inexpensive, time saving and

New mechanistic insights into the Claisen rearrangement of chorismate – a Unified Reaction Valley Approach study

Molecular Physics, 2018
The Bacillus subtilis chorismate mutase catalysed Claisen rearrangement of chorismate to prephenate is one of the few pericyclic processes in biology, and as such provides a rare opportunity for understanding how Nature promotes such rearrangements so ...

An engineered chorismate mutase with allosteric regulation

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2003
Besides playing a central role in phenylalanine biosynthesis, the bifunctional P-protein in Eschericia coli provides a unique model system for investigating whether allosteric effects can be engineered into protein catalysts using modular regulatory elements.
