Proteomic Insight Into Alzheimer's Disease Pathogenesis Pathways

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a leading cause of dementia, but the pathogenesis mechanism is still elusive. Advances in proteomics have uncovered key molecular mechanisms underlying AD, revealing a complex network of dysregulated pathways, including amyloid metabolism, tau pathology, apolipoprotein E (APOE), protein degradation ...

Low‐contrast visual acuity versus low‐luminance visual acuity in choroideremia

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Optometry, EarlyView., 2020
Clinical relevance Choroideremia is a progressive X‐linked inherited rod‐cone dystrophy. Patients present with nyctalopia and progressive visual field loss, but visual acuity remains well preserved early on. This study showed that low‐luminance visual acuity may be a useful clinical outcome measure during earlier disease stages.

Domain-specific augmentations with resolution agnostic self-attention mechanism improves choroid segmentation in optical coherence tomography images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The choroid is a key vascular layer of the eye, supplying oxygen to the retinal photoreceptors. Non-invasive enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) has recently improved access and visualisation of the choroid, making it an exciting frontier for discovering novel vascular biomarkers in ophthalmology and wider systemic health ...

Sainsc: A Computational Tool for Segmentation‐Free Analysis of In Situ Capture Data

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Spatially resolved transcriptomics methods can now profile the entire transcriptome, at full organism scale with nanometre resolution. Analysis frameworks that can efficiently and intuitively process the massive data generated by these methods are lacking.

Liver‐directed drugs for transthyretin‐mediated amyloidosis

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 228-237, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Transthyretin‐mediated amyloidosis (ATTR) is a rare, under‐recognized, progressively debilitating, fatal disease caused by the aggregation and extracellular deposition of amyloid transthyretin (TTR) fibrils in multiple organs and tissues throughout the body.

OCTolyzer: Fully automatic toolkit for segmentation and feature extracting in optical coherence tomography and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) of the eye has become essential to ophthalmology and the emerging field of oculomics, thus requiring a need for transparent, reproducible, and rapid analysis of this data for clinical research and the wider research community.

Choroidal thinning assessment through facial video analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Different features of skin are associated with various medical conditions and provide opportunities to evaluate and monitor body health. This study created a strategy to assess choroidal thinning through the video analysis of facial skin. Videos capturing the entire facial skin were collected from 48 participants with age-related macular degeneration ...
