Supercritical fluid chromatography and scale up study

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2014
The influence of process parameters on supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and scale-up on to the preparative scale was investigated. In this scope, dependency of pressure, temperature, type and concentration of modifier, and type of stationary ...

Simultaneous Determination of 20 Nitrogen-Containing Heterocyclic Compounds in Soil by Supercritical Fluid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMolecules
Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds (NHCs) are common environmental pollutants that need to be monitored due to their high toxicity. Typically, gas or liquid chromatography combined with mass spectrometric detection is used for this task. However,

Supercritical CO2 Extracts and Volatile Oil of Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) Comparison with Conventional Methods

open access: yesSeparations, 2018
Interest in new products from aromatic plants as medical and nutritional compounds is increasing. The aim of this work was to apply different extraction methods, including the use of supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, and to test the antioxidant ...

Supercritical Fluid Chromatography

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Research in Science, Communication and Technology, 2023
History of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography In 1822, the French physicist Charles Cannard de La Tour placed a liquid and a flint ball in a Papin rifle pressure vessel and heated the liquid with a sealed cannon. 1) When the container was shaken, the bullet broke through the air-liquid interface, and the sound of the bullet scattering was heard.

A Reproducible SEM Surface Imaging Protocol for Monitoring Microstructural Changes During Gas–Rock Interactions

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reliable characterization of mineralogical and textural changes in rock samples is essential for understanding fluid–rock interactions, particularly in experimental studies simulating subsurface conditions. This study presents a reproducible protocol for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of rock surfaces before and after exposure to ...

Turmeric essential oil‐loaded wheat starch cryogels as superabsorbent pads for active packaging of fish fillets

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND This study aimed to create a cryogel with water‐absorbing and antioxidant properties. Wheat starch (10%, w/v) was used to produce cryogels, which were then incorporated with turmeric essential oil (TEO) at two concentrations: 20% and 30% (w/w of starch).

Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry: Fundamental Principles, Diverse Applications, and the Latest Technological Frontiers

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review examines the evolution of chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI‐MS), a technique developed in 1966 by Field and Munson. CI is a soft‐ionization method that produces more intense molecular ions with less fragmentation than electron ionization (EI).

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Predictions of overloaded concentration profiles in supercritical fluid chromatography

open access: yes, 2021
Here, overloaded concentration profiles were predicted in supercritical fluid chromatography using a combined two-dimensional heat and mass transfer model. The heat balance equation provided the temperature and pressure profiles inside the column.

Tunable Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents‐Driven Fractionation of Olive Pomace in an Integrated Biorefinery: Linking Lignin Structural Tailoring to Carbohydrate Valorization and Biopolymer Production

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Microwave‐conditioned olive pomace was fractionated with deep eutectic solvents (DESs) spanning acidic, neutral, alkaline, and chemo‐enzymatic regimes. The alkaline DES provided the best balance between delignification and carbohydrate preservation, yielding a fermentable glucose/xylose stream suitable for Haloferax mediterranei fermentation and poly(3‐
