The Exposure Effect of Water Pipe Smoke (WPS) on the Total Count leukocyte, Mitotic Index, Micronucleus Formation and Chromosome Aberration in Albino Male Mice

open access: yesمجلة مركز بحوث التقنيات الاحيائية, 2015
The present study was carried out to evaluate the hematological and cytogenetic effects of water pipe smoke (WPS) in albino male mice. The investigated parameters were total count of leukocytes (TCL), mitotic index (MI), micronucleus (MN) formation and ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Genotoxicity evaluation of So-ochim-tang-gamibang (SOCG), a herbal medicine

open access: yesBMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2018
Background So-ochim-tang-gamibang (SOCG) is a traditional Korean medicine frequently used for depression in the clinical field. In this study, we evaluated the potential genotoxicity of SOCG using three standard batteries of tests as part of a safety ...

Mutagenic impact on fish of runoff events in agricultural areas in south-west France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
When heavy rainfall follows herbicide application, the intense surface runoff causes stream water contamination. Aquatic organisms are then briefly exposed to a complex mixture of contaminants.

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Outcomes associated with fetal nuchal translucency between 3.0 and 3.4 mm in the first trimester

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica
Introduction Decisions concerning nuchal translucency (NT) between 3.0 and 3.4 mm remain controversial, particularly regarding whether to first calculate the combined first trimester screening test or to proceed directly with invasive testing.

m-FISH analysis reveals complexity of chromosome aberrations in individuals occupationally exposed with internal plutonium: A pilot study to assess the relevance of complex aberrations as biomarkers of exposure to high-LET α particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We recently demonstrated that a significant proportion of apparently stable insertions induced after exposure to a mean of 1 α particle/cell, detected using 3-colour FISH, were part of larger unstable complexes when visualised by 24-colour FISH ...

Characterization of two marker chromosomes in a patient with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia by two-color fluorescence in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A patient with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL), M5b according to French-American-British (FAB) classification, showed monosomy 16, an extra 1p−, and a 21q+. These derivative chromosomes could not be defined by GTG-banding.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.
