Chromosome Doubling in Vine Cacti Hybrids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 2003
We performed reciprocal crosses between the tetraploid Selenicereus megalanthus and the diploid Hylocereus species, H. undatus and H. polyrhizus. S. megalanthus x H. undatus gave rise to viable hexaploids and 6x-aneuploid hybrids rather than to the expected triploids. No genuine hybrids were obtained in the reciprocal cross.

Fertility recovery of anther-derived haploid plants in Cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.)

open access: yesAgronomía Colombiana, 2018
The cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) is one of the most important Colombian exotic fruits. Chromosome doubling of anther-derived plants is a key factor in the application of double haploid technology for the genetic improvement of crops.

Tetraploid production through zygotic chromosome doubling in Populus

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2013
The most direct approach in breeding triploid is crossing allotetraploids with diploids. However, the lack of allotetraploid restricts application of this approach. In this investigation, zygotic chromosome doubling was induced with colchicine and high

CpG Islands and Double-Minute Chromosomes

open access: yesGenomics, 1998
Double-minute chromosomes (DMs) amplify oncogenes in human tumors. The organization of genomic DNA in four independently isolated DMs amplifying the DHFR (dihydrofolate reductase) gene has been compared by mapping locations of CpG islands. When cleaved with methylation-sensitive rare-cutting restriction endonucleases, three hypomethylated GC-rich DNA ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Chromosome 1 licenses chromosome 2 replication in Vibrio cholerae by doubling the crtS gene dosage.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2018
Initiation of chromosome replication in bacteria is precisely timed in the cell cycle. Bacteria that harbor multiple chromosomes face the additional challenge of orchestrating replication initiation of different chromosomes.

Double deletion of a chromosome 21 inserted in a chromosome 22 in an azoospermic patient [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2015
Key Clinical MessageWe report on a phenotypically normal 41‐year‐old azoospermic man with a 45 chromosomes karyotype including one normal chromosome 21, one normal chromosome 22, and a der(22)ins(22;21). ArrayCGHshowed a 1.8 Mb terminal deletion of bands 21pter to 21q21.1 and a 341 kb terminal deletion on band 21q22.3.
