Understanding the Changes in the Circular Dichroism of Light Harvesting Complex II upon Varying Its Pigment Composition and Organization [PDF]
In this work we modeled the circular dichroism (CD) spectrum of LHCII, the main light harvesting antenna of photosystem II of higher plants. Excitonic calculations are performed for a monomeric subunit, taken from the crystal structure of trimeric LHCII ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Conformational characterization of a novel anti-HER2 candidate antibody.
Regulatory agencies establish that a broad physicochemical and biological characterization is necessary for the evaluation of comparability between a biosimilar candidate product and a reference commercial drug.

The New Functional Hybrid Chaperone Protein ADGroEL–SacSm
The creation of new proteins by combining natural domains is a commonly used technique in protein engineering. In this work, we have tested the possibilities and limitations of using circular homo-oligomeric Sm-like proteins as a basis for attaching ...

The hexameric Escherichia coli RNA chaperone Hfq (Hfq(Ec)) is involved in riboregulation of target mRNAs by small trans-encoded RNAs. Hfq proteins of different bacteria comprise an evolutionarily conserved core, whereas the C-terminus is variable in ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Detecting circular RNA from high-throughput sequence data with de Bruijn graph
Background Circular RNA is a type of non-coding RNA, which has a circular structure. Many circular RNAs are stable and contain exons, but are not translated into proteins.

Characterizing Expression and Regulation of Gamma-Herpesviral Circular RNAs
Multiple herpesviruses have been recently found to encode viral circular RNAs. Like cellular circular RNAs, these RNAs lack poly-A tails and their 5′ and 3′ ends have been joined, which confers protection from RNA exonucleases. We examined the expression

The neuropeptides S1 (GFNSALMFamide) and S2 (SGPYSFNSGLTFamide), which share sequence similarity, were discovered in the starfish Asterias rubens and are prototypical members of the SALMFamide family of neuropeptides in echinoderms.
