The Gas to Dust Ratio in Circumstellar Envelopes

1985
Mass loss rates for evolved stars, with both [0] > [C] and [0] < [C] can be found using observations of thermal emission in the CO rotational lines. Observations of the CO(1–0) line have been made of fifty stars using the Bell Laboratories 7-m antenna, and models of the circumstellar shell used to derive mass loss rates from these stars (Knapp and ...

Gas Phase Reactions in Interstellar and Circumstellar Media

2023
What are the types of gas phase reaction useful in constructing an effective astrochemical network? We discuss radiative association, exchange reactions, recombination reactions of ions with electrons, photoionization of atoms and molecules by starlight, collisional ionization by fast particle and by X-rays.

The interaction of supernova 1987A with dense circumstellar gas

Nature, 1988
The light travel time effects on the evolution of line fluxes, line profiles, and spatial structure of the emission from supernova 1987A are described. Current high spectral resolution observations suggest a lower limit to the age of the shell of 5000 yr and suggest a relatively low shell velocity.

Circumstellar Dense Gas in B5 IRS1

1990
High resolution maps showing dense clumps of gas within ~ 5 × 1016cm of the low luminosity young star B5 IRS1 are presented.

Spectral Energy Distributions of Circumstellar Gas in Algols

1993
Developments in computers now have made it practical to treat the gas flow and radiation problem in matter-transferring binaries. The computation consists of four separable parts: (1) gas flow, (2) radiative properties, in particular, emission line strengths and profiles, (3) generation of spectral energy distributions by spatial integration with ...
