Behavioral effects of citrus paradisi in rats
Metabolic Brain Disease, 2015Anxiety and depression adversely affect behavior though these conditions may be handled through environmental and dietary changes. Diet rich in flavonoids and vitamins may support reducing anxiety and depression. Depression is most common but serious illness making life miserable; however the usage of dietary and herbal complements to treat anxiety and

Antioxidant activity of Citrus paradisi seeds glyceric extract
Fitoterapia, 2004The antioxidant activity of Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) seeds glyceric extract dissolved in ethanol and in aqueous media was evaluated using three different methods: evaluation by DPPH assay, by 5-lipoxygenase assay and by luminol/xanthine/xanthine oxidase chemiluminescence assay.

Enzymic peeling of Indian grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2001AbstractThe tough nature of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) peel and its close adherence to the inner fruit sections limit the industrial processing of grapefruit. Two commercial peeling enzymes coded as ‘Brand A’ and ‘Brand B’ were studied for enzymic peeling of Indian grapefruit by vacuum infusion.

Leaf and peel volatile compounds of an interspecific citrus somatic hybrid [Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing. + Citrus paradisi Macfayden] [PDF]
AbstractThe volatile compounds from leaves and peels of an interspecific citrus somatic hybrid, Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing. + Citrus paradisi Macfayden, obtained by fusion of protoplasts from lime, Citrus aurantifolia (cv. Mexican Lime) and grapefruit, Citrus paradisi (cv.

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf. cv Duncan) plants were transformed with several sequences from citrus tristeza closterovirus (CTV) that varied in terms of position in the CTV genome and virus strain origin in an attempt to obtain resistant plants. The sequences included the capsid protein gene from three different strains, a nontranslatable version ...

Synthetic regulators of carotenoid biosynthesis in Citrus paradisi
Phytochemistry, 1976Abstract The ability of 16 amines to induce carotenoid biosynthesis in Marsh seedless grapefruit is correlated with the octanol-water partition coefficient and the Hammett constants. The compounds fall into three series: p-RC6H4COOCH2CH2NEt2 (R = H, NH2, CN, NO2, MeO, Me, tert-Bu, F, Cl, Br), p-RC6H4CH2NEt2 (R = H, Me, NO2), and RC6H4OCH2CH2NEt2 (R =

Antibacterial activity of grapefruit ( Citrus paradisi ) peel extracts
European Food Research and Technology, 2001Citrus paradisi peels were successively extracted with hexane, chloroform, acetone and methanol using a Soxhlet extractor for 8 h each. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) of hexane and chloroform extracts showed three spots with different concentrations; hence both the extracts were mixed and fractionated into alcohol soluble and insoluble fractions ...

Prospects of mutation breeding in grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf.)
Journal of Horticultural Science & Technology, 2020Grapefruit is considered as a minor citrus crop in Pakistan and its annual production is less than 0.5% of total citrus production. Grapefruit industry is depending upon pink flesh cultivar ‘Shamber’ and need varietal diversification. Mutation breeding has played a pivotal role in grapefruit crop improvement and most of the commercial cultivars are bud

Volatile flavour components of grapefruit juice (Citrus paradisi Macfadyen)
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1985AbstractThe qualitative analysis of volatile flavour components in grapefruit juice (Citrus paradisi Macfadyen) was performed using a gas chromatography/mass spectro‐metry/computer system which allowed the identification of 58 components, 25 of them being reported for the first time.

Grapefruit and lime cutins were analyzed and compared in order to obtain information about their cutin architecture. This was performed using a sequential hydrolysis, first with trifluoroacetic acid to remove most of the polysaccharides present in the cutins, followed by an alkaline hydrolysis in order to obtain the main aliphatic compounds.
