Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

C1q-targeted inhibition of the classical complement pathway prevents injury in a novel mouse model of acute motor axonal neuropathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmune disease that results in acute paralysis through inflammatory attack on peripheral nerves, and currently has limited, non-specific treatment options.

Topological Methods for Exploring Low-density States in Biomolecular Folding Pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Characterization of transient intermediate or transition states is crucial for the description of biomolecular folding pathways, which is however difficult in both experiments and computer simulations. Such transient states are typically of low population in simulation samples.

KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Development of a C3c-based ELISA method for the determination of anti-complementary potency of Bupleurum polysaccharides

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2015
Traditionally, determination of inhibitory potency of complement inhibitors is performed by the hemolytic assay. However, this assay is not applicable to the lectin pathway, thus impeding the understanding of complement inhibitors against the overall ...

Controlling electron-electron correlation in frustrated double ionization of molecules with orthogonally polarized two-color laser fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate the control of electron-electron correlation in frustrated double ionization (FDI) of the two-electron triatomic molecule D$_{3}^{+}$ when driven by two orthogonally polarized two-color laser fields.

Classical and Non-Classical Thyroid Hormone Intracellular Pathways Involved in T Lymphoma Growth [PDF]

open access: yesImmunology‚ Endocrine & Metabolic Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
Abstract: Thyroid hormones (THs) are important regulators of cell physiology. They are essential for the normal development and growth of mammals, especially for the neural differentiation and the regulation of the metabolism and the immune system. THs also induce the proliferation of several cell types.

Pathway fractional integral operators involving $\mathtt{k}$-Struve function [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A new generalization called $\mathtt{k}$-Struve function and its properties given by Nisar and saiful very recently. In this paper, we establish the pathway fractional integral representation of $\mathtt{k}$-Struve function. Many special cases also established to obtain the pathway integral representation of classical Struve function.

Obesity alters the fitness of peritumoral adipose tissue, exacerbating tumor invasiveness in renal cancer through the induction of ADAM12 and CYP1B1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor microenvironment drives cancer formation and progression. We analyzed the role of human cancer‐associated adipocytes from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stratified as lean, overweight, or obese. RNA‐seq demonstrated that, among the most altered genes involved in the tumor–stroma crosstalk, are ADAM12 and CYP1B1, which were proven to be ...

A Review of Pyroptosis in Liver Disease [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Pyroptosis is a new form of programmed cell death that is different from cell necrosis, apoptosis, and autophagy. It is characterized by the rupture of cell membranes mediated by Gasdermin and the release of cell contents and pro-inflammatory factors ...
