In Vivo Renal Clearance, Biodistribution, Toxicity of Gold nanoclusters

open access: yes, 2012
Gold nanoparticles have shown great prospective in cancer diagnosis and therapy, but they can not be metabolized and prefer to accumulate in liver and spleen due to their large size.

Inert gas clearance from tissue by co-currently and counter-currently arranged microvessels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To elucidate the clearance of dissolved inert gas from tissues, we have developed numerical models of gas transport in a cylindrical block of tissue supplied by one or two capillaries. With two capillaries, attention is given to the effects of co-current

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Nonlinear estimation of the transmission-input-shaft torque in a full-scale automotive vehicle

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2019
A nonlinear torque estimator for accurately estimating non-measurable transmission-input-shaft torque in a full-scale automotive vehicle with continuously variable transmission is proposed.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Bounded distance field for assisting interactive layout design of water circuits

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2019
Manufacturing companies often define various guidelines on the part placement in a mechanical product. In this study, we present a software system to assist in the layout of parts when minimum thickness and clearance conditions between the parts are ...
