Dynamics of Mechanisms With Slider Joints and Clearance

Volume 6B: 18th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 2001
Abstract In this study a planar mechanism with a rotating sliding joint is investigated. Periodic behavior is observed for zero clearance of the sliding joint. The sliding joint with clearance is modeled using a kinematic coefficient of restitution and a coefficient of friction.

To model joints with clearance for tolerance analysis

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2014
Mechanical products are usually made by assembling many parts. Among the different types of links, bolts are widely used to join the components of an assembly. In a bolting, a clearance exists among the bolt and the holes of the part to join. This clearance has to be modelled in order to define the possible movements agreed to the joined parts.

Method for measuring clearances in precision joints

Measurement Techniques, 1964
1. This instrument can be used in combination with an actuating device for effective control in fitting diameters of one of the conjugate components to the other by a method similar to that described in [3] or [4]. 2. The design of the clearance testing instrument (see Figure) provides the possibility of testing the clearance (or fit ...

Accuracy Analysis of General Parallel Manipulators with Joint Clearance

Proceedings 2007 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2007
Due to the joint clearance, parallel manipulators always exhibit some position and orientation errors at the mobile platform. This paper aims to provide a systematic framework for the error analysis problem of general parallel mechanisms influenced by the joint clearance.

Modeling 3D revolute joint with clearance and contact stiffness

Nonlinear Dynamics, 2011
The clearances in the kinematic joints are due to deformations, wear, and manufacturing errors; the accurate modeling of these effects in multibody analysis is a complex issue but in many practical applications, it is mandatory to take into them into account in order to understand the actual behavior of mechanical systems.

Dynamic simulaion of multibody system with planar clearance joint

Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Electronic & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology, 2011
A tribological analysis scheme for multibody system with clearance joints is presented by integrating frictional contact model, wear calculation with multibody dynamics. Clearance joints are modeled as a continuous contact model with friction. Progressive wear process is simulated by a widely used a finite-element-based iterative scheme.

Constitutive Equations for Joints with Clearance

2005
The small displacements notion is widely used in tolerancing, particularly to describe the kinematics of joints with clearance. But this purely geometrical approach does not take into account the joint forces description. Our paper aims at examining the consequences of such an approach on the forces representation.

Analysis of clearance fit pin joints

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1978
The analysis of clearance fit joints falls within the realm of mixed boundary problems with moving boundaries. In this paper, this problem is solved by a simple continuum method of analysis applying an inverse technique; the region of contact is specified and the corresponding causative load is evaluated.
