Mesozoic-Cenozoic mafic magmatism in Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Zagros Orogen (Western Iran): geochemical and isotopic inferences from Middle Jurassic and Late Eocene gabbros [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
One of the consequences of Neo-Tethys ocean subduction beneath the Central Iranian Micro-continent (CIMC) is the development of rare gabbroic intrusions in the Malayer-Boroujerd Plutonic Complex (MBPC) located in the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SaSZ) of the ...

Supra-subduction melt modification of the fossil subcontinental lithospheric mantle: insights from ultra-depleted Khara-Nur ophiolitic peridotites (Eastern Sayan, central Asian orogenic belt)

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Mantle peridotites from the Mesoproterozoic forearc-type ophiolites in the Eastern Sayan range (Eastern Siberia) provide insights into the nature and formation processes of the supra-subduction mantle.

Partitioning of chromium between garnet and clinopyroxene: first-principle modelling versus metamorphic assemblages [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy, 2020
Understanding the geochemical behaviour of trace and minor elements in mineral assemblages is of primary importance to study small- and large-scale geological processes.

Magmatic characteristics and crystallization condition of the Gasht- Masuleh gabbros (North of Iran) based on clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene composition [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی, 2019
The Alborz Range, as a part of the Alpine-Himalayan orogeny, formed during the Cimmerian orogeny due to northward movements of the Central Iran micro-plate towards Eurasia.

FLUORINE PARTITIONING BETWEEN QUADRILATERAL CLINOPYROXENES AND MELT

open access: yesGeological Society of America Abstracts with Programs, 2020
Abstract Concentrations of fluorine and chlorine were measured in glasses (quenched melts) and coexisting clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, olivine, and plagioclase in run products of experiments previously used to measure sulfur partitioning between these phases.

Circular Potential of Lithium‐Ion Battery Recycling Slags: Quantifying Microstructure and Elemental Distribution for a Holistic Valorization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A lithium‐bearing slag is investigated with the goal of holistic valorization. The present β‐eucryptite (LiAlSiO4) exhibits a high lithium content and low levels of impurities. The spinel contains most of the chromium and vanadium, representing additional valorization opportunities.

COMPLICATED THERMAL HISTORY OF THE LITHOSPHERIC MANTLE OF THE ANABAR REGION: RECONSTRUCTIONS BASED ON XENOCRYSTS FROM KIMBERLITES

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика
The thermal history and thickness of the lithospheric mantlebeneath the kimberlite fields of the Eastern Anabar shield and adjacent territories of the Siberian craton were reconstructed based on the composition of clinopyroxene xenocrysts from the ...

Crystallization kinetics of clinopyroxene and titanomagnetite growing from a trachybasaltic melt: New insights from isothermal time-series experiments

open access: yesChemical Geology, 2018
In order to investigate the role of crystallization kinetics in mafic alkaline systems, textural measurements, mineral compositional changes and diffusion modelling calculations have been carried out on isothermal time-series experiments.

Geological and geotechnical challenges on the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe and their impact on hardrock pillar design

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is notable for its rich platinum group metal deposits but poses significant geological and geotechnical challenges due to its complex rock types and structural features. Traditional pillar design methods are insufficient for addressing these complexities; the study suggests incorporating advanced techniques such as machine ...

The lithospheric mantle and lower crust-mantle relationships under Scotland: a xenolithic perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the British Isles the majority of volcanic rocks containing upper mantle and lower crustal xenoliths occur in Scotland. Most of the occurrences are of Carboniferous–Permian age.
