Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

CORE: Cholesterol Altered Lipid Nanoparticles for Splenic Expression of mRNA Payloads

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper researchers introduce CORE LNPs, a new class of lipid nanoparticles engineered to redirect mRNA expression away from the liver and into the spleen, a key immune organ. By combining chemical design with computational tools, they created cholesterol analogs that enable precise spleen‐targeted expression, providing greater applications for ...

A Clonal Evolution Simulator for Planning Somatic Evolution Studies

Journal of Computational Biology, 2022
Somatic evolution plays a key role in development, cell differentiation, and normal aging, but also in diseases such as cancer. Understanding mechanisms of somatic mutability and how they can vary between cell lineages will likely play a crucial role in biological discovery and medical applications.

Clonal Evolution in Multiple Myeloma

Clinical Lymphoma Myeloma and Leukemia, 2016
Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematologic malignancy encountered among patients in the United States. The last decade has seen incremental improvements in the survival of patients with MM. These advances are, to a large extent, attributable to the addition of proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulatory drugs to the armamentarium of ...

Clonal Evolution in Aplastic Anemia

Hematology, 2011
AbstractCurrent immunosuppressive treatment (IST) induces remissions in 50%-70% of patients with aplastic anemia (AA) and result in excellent long-term survival. In recent years, the survival of refractory patients has also improved. Apart from relapse and refractoriness to IST, evolution of clonal diseases, including paroxysmal nocturnal ...
