In vivo evidence for quasispecies distributions in the bovine respiratory syncytial virus genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We analyzed the genetic evolution of bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) isolate W2-00131, from its isolation in bovine turbinate (BT) cells to its inoculation in calves.

Molecular cloning of schistosome genes

open access: yesParasitology, 1986
As part of an integrated programme investigating human schistosomiasis, work which involves epidemiological surveys and detailed immunological studies as well as biochemical investigations, we have, over the last three years, been cloning schistosome genes in a variety of plasmid and lambda vector systems.

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

A modular assembly cloning technique (aided by the BIOF software tool) for seamless and error-free assembly of long DNA fragments

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2012
Background Molecular cloning of DNA fragments >5 kbp is still a complex task. When no genomic DNA library is available for the species of interest, and direct PCR amplification of the desired DNA fragment is unsuccessful or results in an incorrect ...

Efficient Parallel Algorithm for Statistical Ion Track Simulations in Crystalline Materials

open access: yes, 2008
We present an efficient parallel algorithm for statistical Molecular Dynamics simulations of ion tracks in solids. The method is based on the Rare Event Enhanced Domain following Molecular Dynamics (REED-MD) algorithm, which has been successfully applied

Characterization, cloning and immunogenicity of antigens released by transforming cercariae of Schistosoma mansoni [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A schistosome infection is initiated when the parasite penetrates the skin of a susceptible host. Relatively large quantities of protein are released by transforming cercariae compared to later larval stages.

Development of a minigenome cassette for Lettuce necrotic yellows virus: A first step in rescuing a plant cytorhabdovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Rhabdoviruses are enveloped negative-sense RNA viruses that have numerous biotechnological applications. However, recovering plant rhabdoviruses from cDNA remains difficult due to technical difficulties such as the need for concurrent in planta ...
