An Ethical Overview on Cloning in Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work titled "An Ethical Overview on Cloning in Nigeria" analyzed the debate on cloning for which many scholars believe that cloning is not just ethically and morally acceptable, but beneficial in that they allow otherwise infertile couples to have ...

A Compound Screen Based on Isogenic hESC‐Derived β Cell Reveals an Inhibitor Targeting ZnT8‐Mediated Zinc Transportation to Protect Pancreatic β Cell from Stress‐Induced Cell Death

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic β cell loss by cellular stress contributes to diabetes pathogenesis. The study demonstrates that WFS1–ZnT8–zinc axis regulates vicious cycle of zinc transportation and cellular stress in pancreatic β cell. Based on that, the study applies a strategy for compound screening targeting ZnT8 based on human models, and identifies anisomycin, as a ...

Citrullination of NF‐κB p65 by PAD2 as a Novel Therapeutic Target for Modulating Macrophage Polarization in Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptidyl arginine deiminase 2 (PAD2) plays a key role in regulating macrophage function in Pseudomonas aeruginosa‐induced acute lung injury (ALI). Using single‐cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, a new PAD2‐catalyzed citrullination site on NF‐κB p65 (171 Arginine), modulating macrophage polarization is identified.

DiffClone: Enhanced Behaviour Cloning in Robotics with Diffusion-Driven Policy Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Robot learning tasks are extremely compute-intensive and hardware-specific. Thus the avenues of tackling these challenges, using a diverse dataset of offline demonstrations that can be used to train robot manipulation agents, is very appealing. The Train-Offline-Test-Online (TOTO) Benchmark provides a well-curated open-source dataset for offline ...

Verteporfin‐Mediated In Situ Nanovaccine Based on Local Conventional‐Dose Hypofractionated Radiotherapy Enhances Antitumor and Immunomodulatory Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here gelatinase‐responsive methoxypolyethyleneglycol–PVGLIG–polycaprolactone (mPEG–PVGLIG–PCL) nanoparticles’ loading verteporfin (N@VP) is developed, enhancing radiotherapy via X‐ray‐triggered singlet oxygen generation. Combined with 2 Gy (gray, a radiation dose unit) irradiation, N@VP achieves antitumor efficacy comparable to 8 Gy, and also promotes ...

SuFIA-BC: Generating High Quality Demonstration Data for Visuomotor Policy Learning in Surgical Subtasks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Behavior cloning facilitates the learning of dexterous manipulation skills, yet the complexity of surgical environments, the difficulty and expense of obtaining patient data, and robot calibration errors present unique challenges for surgical robot learning.

PPY‐Induced iCAFs Cultivate an Immunosuppressive Microenvironment in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma features abundant stromal components that hinder therapy efficacy. Single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis combined with experiments identified PPY, a gastrointestinal hormone, as a novel inducer of immunosuppressive iCAFs. Mechanistic studies revealed that PPY activates the non‐canonical NF‐κB pathway via EGFR.

ZNHIT3 Regulates Translation to Ensure Cell Lineage Differentiation in Mouse Preimplantation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Box C/D snoRNP complex regulates protein translation. This study identifies ZNHIT3 as a key component of the complex and ensures normal protein expression, including transcription factors orchestrating cell fate commitment, during early mouse embryogenesis.
