A novel method for cloning DNA of plant-pathogenic mycoplasmalike organisms
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1995A novel method was developed for cloning the DNA from a representative of plant-pathogenic mycoplasmalike organisms (MLOs). This procedure utilized random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and basic recombinant DNA techniques. It consisted of amplification of total DNA from diseased plants using one oligonucleotide primer with arbitrary sequence and ...

The Impact of Transgenesis and Cloning on Cell and Organ Xenotransplantation to Humans
2001Grafting cells or organs of animal origin into humans has been envisioned for a long time. Yet, no success has ever been met so far. The major hurdle, which still remains, is the strong immunological rejection of animal cells and organs by human hosts.

Gene Cloning and Organization of the Alpha-Toxin of Clostridium perfringens
1993Clostridium perfringens is widely distributed in the environment. In the soil, the bacterium is well adapted to survival by producing an array of hydrolytic enzymes capable of breaking down organic materials to yield essential nutrients (McDonel, 1986). It is not clear why many of these enzymes are also potent toxins.

Tissue engineering, stem cells, and cloning for the regeneration of urologic organs
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2003Tissue engineering efforts are currently being undertaken for every type of tissue and organ within the urinary system. Most of the effort expended to engineer genitourinary tissues has occurred within the last decade. Tissue engineering techniques require a cell culture facility designed for human application.
