Molecular Chain Elongation Mechanism for n‐Caproate Biosynthesis by Megasphaera Hexanoica
The medium‐chain carboxylate‐producing microbe Megasphaera hexanoica is analyzed through genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolic engineering. The n‐caproate biosynthetic pathway is reconstructed in Escherichia coli, highlighting MhTHL as a key β‐ketothiolase. Structural analysis and mutagenesis reveal that MhTHL has a distinct substrate‐binding pocket,

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme lysozyme from hens' eggs
Abstract The food enzyme lysozyme (peptidoglycan N‐acetylmuramoylhydrolase; EC 3.2.1.17) is produced from hens' eggs by E.P.S. S.P.A. Egg Powder Specialists. No issue of concern was identified from the food enzyme manufacturing process. It is intended to be used in three food manufacturing processes. The dietary exposure was estimated to be up to 6.943

Biochemical and Immunological Analyses of the Flagellin of Clostridium tyrobutyricum ATCC 25755 [PDF]
AbstractThe monoclonal antibody 21E7‐B12 (IgG3) can be used in a direct method of Clostridium tyrobutyricum detection based on an immunoenzymatic assay. Immunoelectron microscopy demonstrated that the 21E7‐B12 antibody recognized the surface‐exposed epitopes on the flagellar filaments of C. tyrobutyricum.

This review systematically concludes the interaction between microbiota and immunity. We introduce six phyla: Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Fusobacteria, and Verrucomicrobia. We also elucidate molecular mechanisms, biological functions, diseases, and new therapeutic opportunities between microbiota and immunity. .

Abstract The emergence of antimicrobial‐resistant foodborne pathogens poses a continuous health risk and economic burden as they can easily spread through contaminated food. Therefore, the demand for new antimicrobial agents to address this problem is steadily increasing.

Brewing microbiology – bacteria of the genus Clostridium
In most cases, the Clostridium species rank among the sporogenic obligate anaerobes, which are sensitive to bitter hop substances and acidic pH. Thus they rank among the less dangerous contaminants in brewing operations.

The quantification of Clostridia in animal feed (grass and silage) and in samples relevant for animal feed production (soil and manure) using culture methods is generally challenging, as no single culture medium is exclusively selective for all Clostridium species while inhibiting other microorganisms present in these samples.

Abstract The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) process was developed to provide a safety assessment approach for microorganisms intended for use in food or feed chains. In the period covered by this Statement, no new information was found that would change the status of previously recommended QPS taxonomic units (TUs).
