Cloze and Listening Comprehension Tests
Taylor(1953)が、英文の読解難易度を計る方法としてクローズテストを提案して以来、TESL/TEFLの分野においてもその有効性について様々な研究がなされてきた。その結果、実験方法や様々な要因によって異なった結果が得られることから、クローズテストが特に優れて妥当性や信頼性の高いテスト形式とは言えず、他の多くの言語テスト同様、ひとつのテストテクニックである、と考える見方が最近の評価である。しかしながら、70年代から80年代にかけての妥当性や信頼性を探るための諸相関研究を比較検討してみると、実験方法や諸要因の違いにもかかわらず、クローズテストとリスニングテストの相関については、ESL学習者と日本人学習者を対象とした実験では、それぞれに一貫した結果が得られている、という興味ある事実が認められる ...
