Measurements of single top quark production processes with the ATLAS and CMS experiments [PDF]
This report contains a brief summary of the latest single top quark production cross-section measurements performed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations on pp collisions collected during Run 2 of the LHC.

Background. In breeding work, it is necessary to take into account such an important feature as male sterility of the hybrids obtained. If a plant has visually visible anthers and pollen, the quality of the pollen grains themselves may be low.

Phase-2 Upgrade of the CMS Tracker
An upgrade program is planned for the LHC which will smoothly bring the luminosity up to or above 5×1034 cm−2 s−1 sometimes after 2020, to possibly reach an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb−1 at the end of that decade.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

The Electromagnetic Calorimeter of CMS [PDF]
The electromagnetic calorimeter of CMS at the large hadron collider (LHC) has been designed to measure the energy of electrons and photons with high resolution over a wide energy range. The detector consists of 61200 PBWO/sub 4/ crystals for the barrel and 14648 crystals for the endcaps, with a pseudo-rapidity coverage of |/spl eta/| /spl les/ 3.0 ...

As CMS sources 3 flax lines were used: gc-204 (open flower, sterile anthers), gc-208 and gc-188 are self fertile, their sterility occurs only in hybridization with other lines.
