Detection of Cucumber Mosaic Virus (Cucumber Mosaic Virus, Cmv) Causing Natural Infection on Some Cultured Plants in Marmara Region

open access: yesTrakya University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2016
In this study, a total of 235 plant leaf samples were collected from 48 tomatoes from Çanakkale (Ezine), 15 tomatoes, 25 peppers and 35 gladiolus from Bursa (İznik, Yenişehir, Orhangazi), 12 cucumbers, 8 zucchini and 16 peppers from Yalova (Center), 25 ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Engineering extracellular vesicles as novel treatment options: exploiting herpesviral immunity in CLL

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2019
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are important mediators of cell–cell communication. Intriguingly, EVs can be engineered and thus exploited for the targeted transfer of functional proteins of interest. Thus, engineered EVs may constitute attractive tools for

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

The Prevalence of Herpes Virus Infections in the Active Phase in Hospitalized Children with Rotavirus Infection

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва), 2018
Under the supervision there were 301 children hospitalized in an infectious hospital with a diagnosis of rotavirus infection. All children were examined for the presence of human herpes virus DNA 4, 5 and type 6 (EBV, CMV, HHV6) in the blood.

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) in Africa: a neglected but important pathogen

open access: yesJournal of virus eradication, 2016
In Africa, human cytomegalovirus (CMV) is an important pathogen in a diverse range of patient groups. Congenital CMV infection is common, and most children undergo primary infection during the first year of life.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Multisystem cytomegalovirus end-organ disease in a patient with advanced HIV

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2022
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is common in people living with HIV, but multisystem CMV end-organ disease (EOD) is rare following the introduction of effective antiretroviral therapy.

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...
