Automated high throughput animal CO1 metabarcode classification

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce a method for assigning names to CO1 metabarcode sequences with confidence scores in a rapid, high-throughput manner. We compiled nearly 1 million CO1 barcode sequences appropriate for classifying arthropods and chordates.

National Policy Coherence Counts for Reducing Inequality in Global Climate and Development Agendas

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT International institutions promote policy coherence as crucial to the effective and fair implementation of global sustainability agendas, though the evidence for its benefits is slim. We present here the first systematic cross‐country dataset on the consequences of national government efforts to promote policy coherence for vulnerable groups ...

Probing the anomalous Hall transport and magnetic reversal of quasi-two-dimensional antiferromagnet Co1/3NbS2

open access: yesNature Communications
The recent discovery of anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in non-collinear antiferromagnets offers a promising platform for developing ultra-compact, ultrafast, and low-power antiferromagnetic spintronics, as well as for the in-depth investigation of ...

Bifunctional Electrocatalysts in Rechargeable Lithium‐Gas Batteries: Material Evolution and Mechanistic Insights from Metal‐Free Carbons to Carbon‐Supported Single‐Atom Sites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This review charts the material evolution of bifunctional electrocatalysts for rechargeable lithium‐gas batteries. It highlights the journey from heteroatom‐doped, metal‐free carbon architectures to precision‐engineered carbon‐supported single‐atom sites. The discussion focuses on mechanistic insights into how these catalysts govern reversible O2, CO2,

A comprehensive DNA barcoding reference database for Plecoptera of Switzerland

open access: yesScientific Reports
DNA barcoding is an essential tool in modern biodiversity sciences. Despite considerable work to barcode the tree of life, many groups, including insects, remain partially or totally unreferenced, preventing barcoding from reaching its full potential ...

Consistent Choice of Prey Source Habitat Across Diverse Landscapes by a Selective Insectivorous Bat

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
After analyzing the diet of the greater horseshoe bats in three distinct colonies, we identified significant spatial and temporal differences, particularly noting a stronger reliance on riparian habitats in Mediterranean areas. The species exhibits great ecological adaptability with strong plasticity in prey source habitats, shifting preferences among ...

Biology, ecology and dynamics of Deborrea malgassa (Heylarts 1884) (Lepidoptera: Psychidae), the main threat to apple Malus domestica Borkh growing in Madagascar

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Bioecology parameters of the endemic Psychidae Deborrea malgassa, the main pest of apple trees in Madagascar. Spatiotemporal dynamics of Deborrea malgassa, with a peak infestation between May and August. Proposed targeted prophylaxis techniques associated with other agroecological principles will be key to reducing the vulnerability of apple orchards ...
