Competitive season effects on polyunsaturated fatty acid content in erythrocyte membranes of female football players

open access: yesJournal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 2023
Background An optimal and correctly balanced metabolic status is essential to improve sports performance in athletes. Recent advances in omic tools, such as the lipid profile of the mature erythrocyte membranes (LPMEM), allow to have a comprehensive ...

Colour-electric spectral function at next-to-leading order

open access: yes, 2010
The spectral function related to the correlator of two colour-electric fields along a Polyakov loop determines the momentum diffusion coefficient of a heavy quark near rest with respect to a heat bath. We compute this spectral function at next-to-leading

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Heat Transfer Performance in a Superheater of an Industrial CFBC Using Fuzzy Logic-Based Methods

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The heat transfer coefficient in the combustion chamber of industrial circulating flidized bed (CFB) boilers depends on many parameters as it is a result of multifactorial mechanisms proceeding in the furnace.

Resonances and superlattice pattern stabilization in two-frequency forced Faraday waves

open access: yes, 2001
We investigate the role weakly damped modes play in the selection of Faraday wave patterns forced with rationally-related frequency components m*omega and n*omega.

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Ω-results for sums of Fourier coefficients of cusp forms [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 1991
For a cusp form \(F(z)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=1}c(n)e^{2\pi inz}\) (c(n)\(\in {\mathbb{R}})\) of integral weight k for \(\Gamma_ 0(N)\) (for some integer \(N\geq 1)\) with real character, such that F(z) is an eigenfunction of the Hecke operators and does not vanish on \(\{\) iy ...

Scattering of plasmons at the intersection of two metallic nanotubes: Implications for tunnelling

open access: yes, 2009
We study theoretically the plasmon scattering at the intersection of two metallic carbon nanotubes. We demonstrate that for a small angle of crossing, $\theta \ll 1$, the transmission coefficient is an oscillatory function of $\lambda/\theta$, where ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Fermi-liquid and Fermi surface geometry effects in propagation of low frequency electromagnetic waves through thin metal films

open access: yes, 2007
In the present work we theoretically analyze the contribution from a transverse Fermi-liquid collective mode to the transmission of electromagnetic waves through a thin film of a clean metal in the presence of a strong external magnetic field.
