Cognitive load classification of mixed reality human computer interaction tasks based on multimodal sensor signals

open access: yesScientific Reports
Evaluating cognitive load in mixed reality (MR) has become a significant challenge in human-computer interaction (HCI). To address this, we established an MR multimodal experimental platform with three distinct environments to induce varying levels of ...

Learner control, cognitive load and instructional animation

open access: yes, 2007
In order to investigate the influence of learner-controlled pacing in educational animation on instructional efficiency, three versions of an audio-visual computer animation and a narration-only presentation were used to teach primary school students the

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Understanding the Role of Cognitive Load in Paramedical Contexts: A Systematic Review

open access: yes
Objectives: Cognitive load refers to the working memory resources required during a task. When the load is too high or too low this has implications for an individual’s task performance. In the context of paramedicine and emergency medical services (EMS)

Sertraline Treatment Can Mimic Niemann‐Pick Type C Biomarker Profile: A Diagnostic Pitfall

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oxysterols (cholestane‐3β,5α,6β‐triol and 7‐ketocholesterol) and N‐palmitoyl‐O‐phosphocholineserine (PPCS) are sensitive biomarkers for Niemann‐Pick disease type C (NPC) screening. However, false‐positive results occur, with a biomarker profile suggestive of NPC despite the absence of pathogenic variants in genes involved in NPC or ...

Cognitive load increases risk aversion

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate how stable individuals' risk attitudes are with respect to changes in cognitive load. In a laboratory experiment using pairwise lottery choice and a within-subject design, we showthat putting subjects under load via a concurrent working-memory task significantly increases their risk aversion.
