Adaptor Scaffoldins: An Original Strategy for Extended Designer Cellulosomes, Inspired from Nature
Designer cellulosomes consist of chimeric cohesin-bearing scaffoldins for the controlled incorporation of recombinant dockerin-containing enzymes. The largest designer cellulosome reported to date is a chimeric scaffoldin that contains 6 cohesins.

Inflammatory signatures in the spectrum of myeloid diseases
Abstract Dysregulated innate immunity contributes to clonal cytopenias and myeloid neoplasms, but its extent across disease stages and clinical relevance remain incompletely defined. We analyzed plasma ASC/NLRP3 double‐positive (DP) specks, ASC single‐positive (SP) specks, and 45 cytokines in 223 patients with idiopathic cytopenias of undetermined ...

Interallelic complementation provides functional evidence for cohesin–cohesin interactions on DNA
The cohesin complex (Mcd1p, Smc1p, Smc3p, and Scc3p) has multiple roles in chromosome architecture, such as promoting sister chromatid cohesion, chromosome condensation, DNA repair, and transcriptional regulation. The prevailing embrace model for sister chromatid cohesion posits that a single cohesin complex entraps both sister chromatids.

Lanosterol 14 α-demethylase (CYP51) plays a crucial role in cholesterol biosynthesis. In gamete development, CYP51 is involved in initiating meiosis resumption in oocytes through its product, meiosis activating sterol (MAS).

Taking cohesin and condensin in context
Structural maintenance of chromosome (SMC) protein complexes, including cohesin and condensin, are increasingly being recognized for their important role in cancer and development, making it critical that we understand how these evolutionarily conserved multi-subunit protein complexes associate with and organize the genome.

Proper meiotic chromosome segregation, essential for sexual reproduction, requires timely formation and removal of sister chromatid cohesion and crossing-over between homologs. Early in meiosis cohesins hold sisters together and also promote formation of

A new meiosis‐specific cohesin complex implicated in the cohesin code for homologous pairing
We identify a new mammalian cohesin subunit, RAD21-like protein (RAD21L), with sequence similarity to RAD21 and REC8. RAD21L localizes along axial elements in early meiotic prophase, in a manner that is spatiotemporally different to either REC8 or RAD21.

Orderly mitosis shapes interphase genome architecture
Genomes assume a complex 3D architecture in the interphase cell nucleus. Yet the molecular mechanisms that determine global genome architecture are only poorly understood.

Regulation of pericentromeric DNA loop size via Scc2-cohesin interaction
Summary: Cohesin exhibits DNA loop extrusion when bound to the ATPase activator Scc2 (NIPBL in humans), which has been proposed to organize higher-order chromosome folding. In budding yeast, most chromosome-bound cohesins lack Scc2.
