Numerical aspects of cohesive-zone models
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2003Abstract The importance of the cohesive-zone approach to analyse localisation and failure in engineering materials is emphasised and various ways to incorporate the cohesive-zone methodology in computational methods are discussed. Numerical representations of cohesive-zone models suffer from a certain mesh bias.

A New Cohesive Zone Model for Mixed-Mode Decohesion
2006This paper focuses on the frequently adopted exponential cohesive zone law of Xu and Needleman (Xu and Needleman [1]). In spite of its wide applicability, this cohesive zone law gives an unrealistic physical response under most mixed-mode loading conditions.

Comparison between cohesive zone models
Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2004AbstractCohesive zone models (CZMs) are widely used for numerical simulation of the fracture process. Cohesive zones are surfaces of discontinuities where displacements jump. A specific constitutive law relating the displacement jumps and proper tractions defines the cohesive zone model.

A Bayesian framework for the calibration of cohesive zone models
The Journal of Adhesion, 2017ABSTRACTAdhesively bonded joints are used in several industrial sectors. Cohezive Zone Modes can be used to predict the adhesive mechanical behaviour. This work presents an approach to calibrate Cohesive Zone Models (CZM) by means of Statistical Inverse Analysis.

Cohesive-Zone Modeling of Adhesive Joints
2013Two distinct failure criteria have traditionally been used to model adhesive joints: a strength-based criterion using the cohesive strength of the adhesive, and an energy-based criterion using the toughness of the adhesive. In practice there are conditions under which the properties of a joint may be controlled by either one of these criteria, or by ...

Thermal de-cohesion model for time of craze failure in cohesive zone
Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2004Abstract The cohesive parameter corresponding to craze failure time is predicted for thermoplastics material. A craze failure separation criterion is proposed for a cohesive zone subjected to a melt layer formed and thickened by adiabatic deformation heat from a craze drawing.
